Old thread new comment re: Auto lockers

This thread proved to be a very interesting read.

Irrespective of who makes the auto locker (Detroit, LockRite, Lokka), they ALL rely on a higher Torque Load from an axle(L or R) - not the drive shaft - to unlock. In a low traction situation (ie mud or a good Aussie gravel road) there may not be ...

Axles and splines

Frank, great info in the data post but have a question.

With respect to the front axles, is the spline count the same at the diff centre and at the hub?

I have 28 splines at the hubs. Could this be extrapolated to be 28 splines at the centre and therefore an 8" front diff?

Pharb was on the money,
Pistons have two recesses in them. After modifying a 15mm socket with my favourite tool (4" grinder), I was able to wind the pistons all the way back in. I also found that it helped to turn the Park Brake levers all the way round to lock whatever was inside the piston ...

Rear Disc Brakes - HELP - URGENT

All.
INFO needed urgently. How do you properly compress the brake calliper piston for rear disc brakes where the parking brake actuates the disc brakes via a lever arm (NOT a small drum setup inside the disc rotor). Just CAN NOT compress the pistons far enough to fit the new pads in. Need the Paj ...

G'Day Frank,
Is it just the camera angle or are there some easily mearsured differences in the physical dimensions of the two housings. From your picture I would expect that the lower housing is the 8". If so it looks like the side to side distance across the housings is noticeably different - for ...

ARB Front diff Applications

A question for the Guru's (probably Frank):

How many Pajero models have the 8" front diff that the ARB Locker fits into?

ie., what engine and transmission combinations - from Gen 1 (especially as I have one)
Thanks,
Sean.

I think you're correct about the 2.5 not being available in Oz Gen1 SWB Pajeros.
Mine is an import so there are quite a few differences to the models sold in Oz back in '88. Eg, trim level, electrics, disc/coil rear end. Other minor mechanical differences include odd size rear disc pad, oval air ...

Help Decoding a compliance plate

My compliance plate lists the model as NFX. Does anyone know what the "X" means.
Also, can anyone provide information on how to decode all the other information on a Pajeros compliance plate.
Thanks,
Sean.
