probably look at what engine it has in it as bj40 came out with 4cyl engines all below 4.2 litres if it is still a diesel it might be a 1 hz and if the conversion is done right would be a goer. Look for rust in chassis and pretty much every where else windscreen surround floors rear quarters also ...

If its your gearbox that is stuffed a 5 sp out of a 60s or 75s bolt on your transfer and shifter cover if it isnt the same. if its the tranny then a 40s one will bolt on if you cant rebuild.

From memory when the steering box gets sloppy you can get a bit of play lift up the bonnet and turn the wheel whilst looking how much the the flexible coupling moves should give you an idea if it is the box or not. You can tighten up the box as well there is a screw adjuster and lock nut on the side ...

Cheers Sounds about right oh well good time to chuck a swivel hub kit thru as well. any other advice on fitment going to use a fj55 column hopefully a bubs custom plate kit with crush tubes and the GM power steering pump with either a cooler or at least cooling tubes any one had any probs with a GM ...

will the 75s TRE fit into the stock 40s steering arms if so I can just use a 75s tie rod? and of course change the pitman arm from 60 to 75 if the tre are different

Yep will bolt into a FJ 45 the chassis mounts are the same for the 2f and the 2H the tricky part is that you will have to replace the gearbox support bracket it should already have the holes drilled and captive nuts welded inside the chassis rails for the L brackets that bolt to the gearbox support ...

cool thanks all for your insight, sounds like it is doable just need to massage the front pumpkin mount with a grinder, what about rotating the diff upwards to reduce driveline angle or is that playing with fire?

Mate grab as late a model as you can find the 2H is a reliable motor and with plenty made parts are quite cheap. watch for oil around the rear bell housing as they have a habit of chewing rear main oil seals not to hard to fix just dont push them back in as far. 4spd is fine for the speeds you ...

Just grab a standard 45,s shaft as they are longer in the models without pwr steer.
