Re: endless air for hj47 with 2h

My 47 has an aircon bracket on the top left of the motor. I have one aircon compressor with a double pulley. I am going to mod the bracket so that i can have a second compressor running off the first one. Any 60 series 2h air con bracket should work. You may have to add or change some harmonic ...

Re: Anyone ever heard of Uteopia?

I remember reading about that in SM ages ago. Found a copy of Zoom on ebay that has an article in it. HIC is the hot idle compensator works off vacuum. Not entirely sure how it works though. Yeah I did have the same thought that it could be fuel pump. Looking at the workshop manual santos the dashpot is not shown in the diagram on the manual choke carb. Everything in that diagram I have on my carb.

Well the HIC is all connected but now when the revs falls the motor will stall most times. Some of the time it will still do the high idle but most times it will just stall once the revs are allowed to fall to 1000rpm from anywhere above 3000rpm. I have also replaced the fuel filter with no ...

Thanks santos I just double checked the HIC and there was a kink in the new vacuum hose I had just put on so I have shortened it so it doesnt kink. From a quick lap around the block it seems better but the idle is now pulsing a little bit. See how it goes tommorow but hopefully this has fixed it ...

PCV seems to be blocked off properly and has a new gasket on the inlet manifold. Will check that all the bolts are tight later though.

1.3 carb stalls once revs drop from above 3000rpm *fixed*

I have an 85 sierra with a manual choke carby. Problem is that after it is warm when stopping at traffic lights from high revs, the revs will hold at around 1500 - 2000rpm. A blip of the throttle is sometimes enough to get it back to idle or pulling on the choke. It doesnt happen everytime i stop. I ...

The cam wants to be just before the intake stroke, not after. And as Boner said, line up TDC on the crank pulley. If you can't find the timing mark on the dizzy then just mark where number one is on the cap and metal base, remove cap and line up the rotor to that mark. If you have it somewhere in ...

dizzy timing (1.3L) what have i done wrong?

I've just recently replaced the motor in my sierra with another 1.3 and I'm having trouble with the timing of the distributor. I dont have a timing light so I just want to get it close enough so the motor runs and will get it properly tuned by a mechanic with a timing light. When i first started the ...

Well just had a look on NZ's version of egay and there is a motor for sale in my area for $150 out of an 86 swift that "ran well when in car".

I'm thinking I would be better off with that because I dont think i could re-ring this motor for that price.

Ok so firstly I pulled off the tappet cover and checked the vavle clearances and both inlet and exhaust are about .178mm which is within spec. Next I did the proper wet test with some engine oil and the compression shot back up to 180psi from 105psi. Also when i pulled the breather hose off the ...

Low comp on 1 cylinder. rings or valve?

I recently brought a SJ413 hard top that had a bit of a tired motor. I've done a compression test on the motor and from front to back: No.1: 105psi No.2: 210psi No.3: 210psi No.4: 210psi When i did the compression test I did all cylinders twice and the motor was at operating temperature when I did ...

We've got about 500mm from drum to the pulley on the rear crossmember. Fingers crossed it's going to be OK. Steve. What you need to have for it to spool correctly is the correct fleet angle. from the brief conversation I had with the wrecker it sounds like he has a couple of these motors. Is there an external difference on the dizzy so I know if it has the right cam? I'm guessing the angle of the dizzy will be the same as the sierra.
