That's not correct. Lada's were still selling in Australia in the mid 1990's. But it was not many. Overseas I believe they are still around, and possibly owned by GM now.want33s wrote:
PS: Lada haven't made or sold a 4wd for over 20 years!

Not many indeed.
Just going through some old threads and came across this. I recently bought a Dodge WC51 myself. A 351 in it would certainly boost power, but I think I'll restore her to original.
A 6x6 version would be sweet.

Hi Mark, I have thought about putting it on duel fuel, the $2000 saving is too good to ignore. I'll get the body lift first however so the gas conversion fittings will be correct the first time around. I originally got a duel fuel quote before the government rebate was announced a couple of years ...

Re: 4.88 vs 4.1
I have a suspicion that it is not. I have a Marks adaptor shift display in the cab that will display an "L" when it is locked. This I have not seen illuminate, even at 100kph.hdj105 wrote:

4.88 vs 4.1
I'm currently driving a 1988 (YN65 series) Hilux with a VP V6 engine and a T700 auto transmission. My diff ratios are 4.88 and I have 31in tyres. This set gives me roughly 3000rpm @100kph. I get 200-250 km's per tank. My question is, will changing to 4.1 diff ratios give me a lower rpm @100kph and ...

As for older carby V8's into your 88 Hilux, just be careful and check with Vicroads first. I remember a conversation where it was said anything built after Jan86 must have an EFi transplant. Also the rule of thumb is engine going in cannot be older than the vehicle it's going into to. But in saying ...

G'day all, first post here. My guess is Knos has a YN65 as he has quoted a 2.4 diesel and not a 2.8. To quickly answer some of your questions. 1/ Costs involved? Up to $10,000 depending on how professional, technical and outsourced you want it to be. Is it worth it? Hell yes. 2/ What motor? I've got ...
