Modified high mount melting cables
Got a high mount winch with 6hp motor. I am running an albright solenoid and all cables are 50mm2 with quality terminal ends. The car is a GU patrol. Whilst running the winch under load for the first time I smelt burning plastic, found out the earth cable on my UHF was completely melted right back ...

You wont need the small earth. From memory it acts as a safety mechanism for the switch.

Re: Modifying Suspension Setup and Speedo for Engineer
Thanks Steve. Shoulda just moved to queensland it would have been much easier. Can I get to the wire easily, without pulling out the dash ? The wire colour would be great too. Thanks for the offer on the jaycar unit but I need to get one in tonight. BTW Engineer was happy with everything else :D Adam

Re: Modifying Suspension Setup and Speedo for Engineer
The GU was a 2.8td and I swapped the gearbox over to the 4.2
The engine is a L98 6L running 4.1's on 33's. So the swapping the speedo sensor should get me within 10% ?
Cheers

Modifying Suspension Setup and Speedo for Engineer
Hi all. Saw the engineer about my GU today to get the engine conversion signed off. Everything went well except suspension is sitting too high and the speedo is out too far. The lift is apparently a pedders 2" lift (came with the car) but as there is little weight in the car ie: no bullbar, single ...

Re: Moving aircon condenser behind radiator
The radiator is a huge PWR unit and cannot be moved back further without cutting into the body.
So I thought it would be the easiest option.

Moving aircon condenser behind radiator
Will it effect my ac much if the aircon condensor is moved behind the radiator ? need a
bit more room in the front of my gu for my highmount.
Its a holden v8 so theres about 200m clearance between the engine. Its also running thermos inside a shroud.

I added a high mount to my GU 4.2 with a custom tube bar and noticed little if any difference.
Try it and see I Guess.

GU LS2 Diff Ratio Selection
Hi all.
Got a 6l LS2 going into a GU manual and it currently has 4.6 diffs. Im thinking the gearing will be too low. Will be running a combination of 33's and 35's.
Anyone recommend a good starting point for diff ratios ? 4.3's 4.1's ?
Cheers

Drive in drive out 6lt conversion
Hi All. Im about to get a 6lt dropped into a GU wagon. I dont have the time nor the necessary wiring skills to do this myself so I am looking at a drive in drive out option. Would prefer a reasonable turn around time too. I know of PGS Mornington Ontrack 4x4 was wondering if there are any others I ...

Im looking at ditching my main tank on my GU Coil Cab. Is it possible to use the sub tank as the main. Is it just as simple as rewiring the pump and re-routing the fuel lines ?

Hi. Hopefully someone can help me with my dilema. Trying to get my head around installing a kill switch. Its for a GU coil cab and it is being built for winch challenges and possibly cliffhanger. Im running 3 batteries, 1 in the engine bay and 2 on the tray + 2 winches 1 front mounted and 1 mid ...
