Re: Chromoly axles

No for the rears I am going to turn the whole axle from 1 solid piece so no welding will be required. I think that will make it stronger too. As for the fronts I am going make the cv's aswell aswell.

Re: Chromoly axles

Thanks heaps guys. En 26 is much tougher than 4340 anyway. And the price of En 26 isn't too much more than 4340 at the moment. So I think I will be making mine from En 26 conscidering we have heaps out at work at the moment. I am going to be making both fronts and rears. I let u guys know how it goes.

Chromoly axles

Hey, I was wondering if anyone knows what material "chromoly" axles are made from.
Is it just 4140 or 4340? And does it get heat treated or case hardened at all?
I am going to make some and I want to know the best material is to make them from.
Any info would be helpfull.

Hey guys I was wondering if anyone had some pictures of "A" frame set-ups. I am trying to decide what design to go with. I am aware that suspension geometrys are difficult to caluculate, that's why I would like to see pictures of what works and what doesn't. Even if it's not an "A" frame I just need ...

only reason i decided to go with the manual was that it is smaller so less tunnel modification and i was told that with auto i would have to look at high stall kit etc to make it actualy any good on the rocks.

at the carby of the old engine where the 1 idle lead went in, unscrew the sensor thing that it connects to on the side of the carb, and swap it with the one out of the new carby... That's what i did!

The pipe is cold drawn seemless, The plates underneeth are thicker and have a larger surface area than te ones on top and the bolts are grade 8.8 high tensil. My engineer said that the front cage could be engineered easily if it was all padded. Thanks for the info tho

i have the exact same bender and have problems with the pipe just simply folding in. would like 42mm OD 6mm be better?
No 42mm would be the same might even be harder to bend than the bigger od stuff

I have a pleanty of mates in the states that use 60od 6mm in comp rigs all the time.
