think its just held in there with an 'o'ring type seal. could be wrong tho, but that i have always thought

you cant get diff gears for the vitara, calmini made a 5.8 set ages ago but have stopped.

im having the same problem with my gearing, once you get ur gears it will be to slow. so u will have to us high and just drop your pressures and keep ur revs up.

wow 32's thats going to out huge amounts of strain on the cv's. i hope u like changing them, alone with other things.

Hey all, i have broken my drivers headlight and front grill (not related to question) on my 96 vitara, i have received another full headlight assembly in great condition. so my question for you vitara guru's is, do i have to remove the grill to fit the head light assembly? or will it just come out ...

when checking the engine oil level, the engine should be at running temp correct?

yea mate they can be to tight. should have a little play but not slip. if its to tight it can damage alternator bearings and tensioners etc. ok thanks, how much should i be able to twist the belt? is 1/2 to 3/4 of twist to loose. thanks normally measured by how far you can deflect/bend the long ...

is it possible to have a fan belt to tight??
how tight is too tight, how far should i be able to rotate/twist the belt by hand?

i have just replaced the water pump on my 96 vitara with the G16b and to do this i had to removed all the timing gear, fan, shroud and all belts. So the new pump is on and got the timing belt back on, it was a bit of stuggle but got it on. As the timing belt and tensioner was on, nothing else ...

vitara 1.6 efi with 235/75/15 (29") i get around 350ks (not adjusted for tyres) to a tank but i havnt let it go empty, i always refill just less than a 1/4 of a tank. RPM, these speeds are not what the speedo reads but the actual speed of the car(roughly). 70ks- 5th= 2100rpm 80ks- 5th= 2700rpm 100ks ...

looks good, recon have it a little raked back looks good.

i did mine flat black last week end, spend most of saturday sanding with wet and dry(250 grit, i think) and spent all day Sunday painting with cans of white night ($7 per can). put 2 coats on the back and 6 on the front, with like 1hr in between coats.

came out awesome.

thanks for the reply's, went and had another look with a mechanic friend and we noticed a lot of oil coming out of the exhaust and rear main.
told the guy ill think of about it but im not going back.

yeah im on about 3500 at 100 on the clock which is around 110kpm.
yeah i was like that as well when i got my vitara as it was my first. but then a few people said that it was normal rpm.

i dont know i just got it of redbook.com.au
i use it for all specs and stuff just have a look and you'll find some good info.
im sure heaps of people on here know, they just have to look in the thread. lets hope they do.

yeah i am happy, no 235 (29") is not the standard size but about 10% bigger, the car had these tires on it so i dont know the standard size but i think it is around 26-27". this car is a 1996 manual and has 187000k's G16B-EFI Power 71kW @ 5600rpm Torque 133Nm @ 4000rpm G16A- carbi Power 55kW ...

i got 1.6 efi vitara but it has 235,75 r15's
at 92kph on the speedo which is about 100kph it is about 2900rpm,

but with these tires the speedo is out by about 10% so 90 on the speedo is 100 and 100 on speedo is 110 ect.
does this make sense.

bad luck about the window, but if you have a soft top wouldn't the flapyness absorb the impact so it might just leave a mark/scratch???

hi, the reason why i want one is so i dont have to take up the small amount of space that i have, being a swb. and i think i am going to have to go with jerry's because of the price. but ill keep looking around for a LR tank. anybody know if it is possible to adapt a sierra LR for a vit? nice idea ...
