Professor, what is your opinion on the X-Link making pretzels out of the control arms?

I have personally seen how much stock (and aftermarket) arms bend with the X-Link fitted.
If you look at how the X-Link works it is obvious why it bends the arms aswell.

That will happen on big lifts ...

The only bad comments you will hear about the Xlinks is from car owners that have not developed their car enough. The xlink alone won’t work with all bases covered. The car needs to be properly setup by someone that understands what to do. There is alot more to do than just fitting an xlink!

I have looked at the suspension seats and they look bulky and most of the rally seats look good but offer no spinal insurance.

The rig will be an allrounder crawl to high speed with little room in the cab. door bars low seat position and back as far as possable. with no head restriction(big wings ...

A seat that doesn't take up to much room

You can cetainly get US motors in plastic/foam.

Don't fancy the chances of the 304/308 or 1UZ though - not enough chassis builders working with them IMHO.
