Have a few instances of flat spots. First time it was the dizzy, replaced the rotor and cap and it was all good. Second time I needed a new coil. Third time it was one of the spark leads, replaced that and haven't had any problems since. As for the auto choke it's a useless item on those carbs. The ...

Steering column switches

Hi all. Some bastard got into my soft top the other night and tried to take her for a joy ride. They failed to get the steering lock unengaged but did manage to rip off all my indicator and lighting stalks. I've got a replacement stalk tree from Suzispares. http://www.suzispares.com/scripts/prodView ...

Had a similar problem on mine, I worked out the automatic choke wasn't working properly it wasn't opening fully after warming up and also taking ages to open on starts. The car would idle erratically and flood if I braked hard at lights plus leave a black stain on the garage floor from the exhaust ...

What if you made a fake lockable Jerry can that can hold a few things and bolt it to the back of the tray. Then you could also use it to transport contraband across the border. Nice.

You could get a pretty skinny lockable box behind the back seats. Or maybe a custom one that goes under the front passenger like a slide out tray big enough for a laptop. It's probably the best option. For security I just leave my soft top unlocked with the glove box open. I got sick of junkies ...

Mate that is f@#king great. You even stuck your camera into a running engine bay for us. Legend.

I'm gonna try it this weekend. I'll give you an update of how it goes.
You should start a new thread and get the mods to put it in the bible.

Thanks heaps for that mate.

Fitting the 6.5's was the best thing I have done to make it work on the highway. The 31's work great with them IMHO!

Sorry for my lack of tech knowledge. What are TG 6.5's? Is that a diff gearing set up?

Yeah I'm running 235/75's she will sit between 90 and 100ks but is a dog up any hill. Just annoying on the way home from a weekend outing and you just want to get home.

As soon as I get time/money I'm going to drop in a 1.6 me thinks.

What's the best way to increase highway speeds on a 1.3l zook?

I am using mine less and less for hardcore 4x4 and more for camping/fishing trips which usually involve a few highway k's before I get to any dirt. I only put it into 4x4 twice last year.

Gearing, exhaust and carb or lighten it up etc.

Check all your leads plugs and distributor.
My zook did this and a new points and leads fixed it.
Maybe a new coil while your at it too. But check the cheaper stuff first.

It then rattled around in the bellhousing for a few days.
It was till drivable but noisy. Maybe a couple of teeth have broken off on yours?

If your going to spraycan them get some of that Belton paint from Bunnings.
It's thick as German paint that goes on nice and is tuff once it's dried.
Costs a bit more but def worth it.

So what you are saying is it was a Dulux rebuild.  Sounds like an input shaft bearing? Didn't accuse them of anything as I wanted it sorted. He was good about it so no need to enflame the situation. I think he will probably be having a word with his reco'd box supplier though. I'm glad ...

Got it from Tempe Tokyo spares in Sydney. It was looking a bit suss when I got it. The thrust bearing was worn out and one of the locater studs was missing.
