Righto guys, thanks for the advice but getting the dimmer switch out without breaking something looked too hard, so I removed the plastic shroud from the steering column. A multimeter found that the blue with silver dashes wire from the light switch stalk gave me the lights power I needed.
Cheers.

GU 3L TD oil sender unit
Hey guys, I have an aftermarket (speco) oil press gauge. I don't really need it but had to fill the third hole in the pillar pod I bought for a boost gauge. The problem is, where to fit the huge elec sender unit? I found the factory switch type sender for the idiot light, but it's in a C of a spot ...

GU lights wiring for gauge
Hi Trendsetters,
can anyone tell me the easiest place to tap into the lights circuit for the gauges I just fitted to a pillar pod?
My lights wire is dangling down next to the accel pedal waiting for a home, but everything is so damn neat and japanese under the dash I don't have a clue!
Cheers.

big trye balancing
Thanks for the replies guys, much appreciated.
I'll go the autobalance I think. Should I attempt to have them conventionally ballanced at a tyre shop with a machine big enough for truck wheels first, or is the autobalance silica stuff so good I shouldn't bother?

big wheels balancing act? HELP?
Hey Dudes, I have 36" MT Baja claws on 15x10 alloy rims, and the local garage that put them on had trouble balancing them. Now the old 40 tries to shake itself to death when decellerating around 40 to 60km/h. I while ago I read that lead shot in the tyre could balance it when it builds up speed. Has ...

With a few phone calls I was advised to use 0.8mm powdercoated aluminium sheets. Sounds good but I still like the frp idea. No one up here in hicksville (NT) knows what I'm talking about so details would be good if u guys know more. Like: What precut sizes do they come in? What approx price is it ...

Hey Trendsetters, I know this doesn't quite fit in this forum, but with all the fabricaters out there, I might get some help. If I were to weld up a frame on top of my car trailer to fully enclose it like race car trailers, what material would be the most cost efficient and weight efficient to clad ...

Easy fj steer question
Hey Truckers, here's an easy one. I just put a power steer box in my 40, but the 2 line holes are looking exactly the same. Which one is the pressure line hole, and which is the return line hole. One is forward, one is rear. Thanks, The 400 small block chev and 5 speed are nearly in and finished ...

chev questions for you clever fellas
Hi clever folk, will a chev TH350 auto bolt right on in between a chev vortec v6 4.3 litre petrol, and a chev T18 transfer case? Also, who in the BrizVegas area is good (ie. sympathetic to, and knowlegable) to take very modified 4x4's with NSW rego and Eng. Certs. and get passed for QLD rego and get ...

shorty 40 suspension woes
Help me out here 40 freaks, I have standard (maybe lifted) 40 springs, reversed for the extra wheelbase, with longer shackles in the back, and rancho adjustables. My problem is, I'm sick of the bouncy harsh ride, but love the rest of the truck. Has anyone been successful with single leaf springs to ...

I have an 82 model 45 trayback with a 4 speed (has the handbrake drum behind the transfer case) with a 400 chev smallblock. All works fine except it jams in 3rd when decelerating. If I back off in 3rd and try to downchange to 2nd, it won't budge until I apply positive torque (accelerate a little ...

Charlie, I don't mean to be rude or doubt you, but how much authority are you speaking with, as I've heard nastier doom n gloom stories than that from Engineers authorised by the NSW RTA. I know they get it wrong sometimes and I hope they have, as 150mm all up is far better than the 50mm total I've ...

Hey guys, I'm stuck up here in the NT but plan to return someday. I'm hearing lots about this new legislation only allowing maximum 2 inch lift, tyres, body blocks and suspension all added up. I don't know how u can get a slight power gain 82 lux, It gives about 80% power compared to diesel and runs hotter too. It's dryer so it's good to jam a few hundred mils of oil in per tank too. Why haven't you started yet?

I don't know enough to comment on the difference between 80 and 100 series, but an 80 series wreck with good driveble chassis should be about $2500 to $5000, depending on age, mileage, turbo etc. ![armsup ](./images/smilies/icon_ruff.gif)

thats a great thread, love your work! Decisions decisions, I'm considering a rhino buggies hammer (hummer replica) on the GQ chassis, as Shrek is so impractical for a lil family, and so stinkin hot in Katherine. But 40's are so cool! What's a bling '81 BJ40 with 3b, 4 speed and discs, all the bling ...

Thanks for the feedback guys, except mabsydney, toughen up matey. The blizzard does look kinda wierd, the wheel base needs to be longer for that body. Hey Guys, has anyone had anything to do with the Rhino Buggies Hammer sold in QLD, they're the Hummer replicas that bolt onto a LWB Patrol chassis. shorty 40 question
Hey guys, I've spent ages reading all the 40 suspension info on the cruiser bible, and my brain hurts. What I want is: to keep my 2" lift height, but move my BJ42 (1981 model) rear diff back about 4 or 5 inches, and take some leaves out to improve the rock hard ride and lack of flex. Also ...
