1HZ piston replacement (aftermarket turbo)

Long story,,, engine still runs but up to piston replacement time and head reco time,, can anyone point me to a replacement piston that will be better suited to the turbo and have same installed height on the std rods. I presume there are aftermarket better suited ones, just wondering what some guys ...

Re: Stupid question...

the transfer case doesnt take much fluid at all so if you have a leak I suggest you keep checking it or your transfer case may run dry. The transfer has a chain inside that carries fluid well and When the seal between the transfer and box is letting fluid pass its usually fluid being thrown up and ...

That makes at least three of us who don't agree with the equasion 1hz + turbo = trouble. And we still don't know what your diesel guru meant by a boosted crankcase! Yeh I dont get that either, mine has a breather routed through an oil catch can into the inlet between the filter and the turbo and ...

Re: 1hz questions

Its either luck of the draw or its just that people dont look after them properly. My 1Hz has had a turbo fitted for well over 200,000km runs like a dream and has never had an issue with a total of 430,000km on the motor now I reckon its doing OK. You can source an exchange 1HZ full reco for $3500 ...

G'day all wise ones, I have just turbo'd my 2.8 hilux, I made my own kit up using a surf manifold with a new IHI RHF5 watercooled turbo from a mazda bravo, all set up and running now but I have too much boost. The boost pressure shows the wastegate opening at right on 10lb then it drops just under ...

Regards getting the ring off the stub axle, If you have a very small cold chisel (cheap to buy) in your toolbox of tricks I usually give it a couple of good whacks after sharpening at 45 degrees or a little less and it spreads the metal expanding the ring while at the same time the shock of the blow ...

Yeah they say the same about being religious with the oil changes. I have been since I have owned the car but that has only been 12 months and who knows what happened before I bought it........ Re: 3L engine knock

Yes it is common, and maybe the toyota bearings are a little soft as well but are you sure these guys really know the 2.8 motor? It is well documented that the number 4 bearing issue is more oil related. Sure use good quality bearings but it is extremely important in this motor to use thin oil and ...

90's landcruiser fuel tank recalls

does anyone know what the issue was with the fuel tank leakage on early 90's landcruisers?
My son has an 80 series with a leaking main tank around the seam and we noticed there was a recall just wondering if it was a seam issue. Anyone remember this one.
Cheers

DTS are all std fit kits so you should be able to just order a new one. failing that remove it take it to pirtek or enzed and they can use your fittings to make a new one. Here is a link for DTS distributors and phone numbers in australia. http://www.dtsturbo.com.au/nsw.html" onclick="window.open ...

Pretty sure it is not a bearing as the noise is high in the engine and half engine speed. Didn't see anything unusual on the head or pistons. Head had a couple of leaky valves so had them ground and the seats cut just for laughs. Fuel pump has been reconditioned as have the injectors But it still ...

You could take it in another quarter of a turn and it still wouldnt hurt until they do it for you and that will get it boosting higher as well in most instances where the fuel is a bit lean, try the extra quarter and if you dont like it or its blowing black smoke its easy to turn it back out again ...

What have you got to lose, screw it out half a turn (leaning it) and if it solves the problem your laughing, if not then simply screw it back in half a turn. Running it just that little bit leaner wont hurt but if your running too rich that can cause you dramas.
Give it a go it wont hurt.

Did the 2nd hand motor come without exhaust manifolds and did you see what it come out of, if they had a turbo fitted on that motor then the fuel would be around half to 3/4 a turn too rich. But definately sounds like pump issue

Should be a primer plunger on the fuel filter but if you have no luck you really want to check that the fuel is getting to the injectors.
