Re: Airlock every morning - 4.2 TD PATROL
I'm no expert but I would loosen the nut on the fuel in hose on top of injector pump ( 17mm ) and get someone to operate the hand pump or turn vehicle over so you can see and make sure diesel is coming out without bubbles. Once you get flow tighten back up. Then break the union on each injector ...

Re: SAFE 3.0L TD ?
sorry to go off topic but what about the 2.8 motor in the earlier GU's and GQ's? I have a 4.2 and it's getting a bit dull putting in a quarter of my pay each week for fuel.....have been thinking I could handle less power if it came with less fuel bills. I know you are paying 6 cyl rego with them also.

Re: 2.8 Turbo Diesel or 4.5 Petrol GU
are you crazy? a 4.5 litre petrol drinking monster for touring! with fuel prices of around $1.50 plus, I think I'd rather just take a little longer to get there with the little diesel. Just do your homework on the vehicles history, ie. how close is it for a major service ( think timing belt on the ...

Re: Am I crazy? ...thinking of selling the 40 for a GU
you know it'll hurt but you'll get over it everytime you can use your new forby to do car jobs! plus when you do go off road you will have something that will be heaps better in everyway ie. more comfy, capable, has a greater payload, won't leave you with as sore a back and you can drive, rather ...

water in my headlights GQ
Hi all after some deep water crossings on the weekend my head lights have got water in them. There is a small hole in them for an older style of parking lights that doesn't have a bulb and lets water in. Do you think it would be o.k to silicone up that hole without any adverse effects? It's not a ...

Re: SD33 to SD33 Turbo- what to do
because the gasket kit for a SD33 T is about $650 and I'm sure it would be a case of " while you're in there may as well replace the....." and lets face it the old trolls aren't worth much anyway. It's just because it has so many good bits bolted to it thats making me want to keep it going. Trying ...

Re: turbo diesel mq
are you sure it's an MQ ? they have round head lights and a 24Volt electrical system. Also the motor would be the SD33. The MK has rectangular headlights and the SD33 or SD33T with factory turbo. Just look for the usual stuff, oil leaks around motor or gearbox/ transfer, swivel hubs and rear brake ...

SD33 to SD33 Turbo- what to do
Hi all have found a descent SD33 motor and was going to put it in my MK which has a turbo. My question is can you just swap the inlet/outlet manifolds and the diesel pump n injectors over? The motor in my MK has a blown head gasket but everything else is good. Tah all.

Turbo'ing a TD42- how important is upgrading the pump etc.
Hi there I know there has been a million td42 turbo posts but couldn't find anything specifically about adding a turbo and not upgrading everything else in the pump. Obviously adding a turbo will be benificial but will I get away with not doing the pump? or is it a waste of money and time if your ...

Hiya all just bought an old 2 door with duel fuel, brand new tank, fuel lines and Holley Carbie running an auto with a B&M Shifter for the princely sum of $500. You do know it prob not legal? That aside if you do this on the front of an MK/MQ Patrol the welds will break away from the chassis where the front hangers go. extended shackles - need extended bump stops?
Hi there keen to build myself some extended shackles - 50mm on an MK Patrol shorty....wondering if it's important to extend the bumpstops or can the springs handle a little flex the other way? Standard, at full travel up, the springs are dead flat. I figure with the Ex shackles they will be forced ...
