Yeah, I installed a switch as well after I sat on the remote and paid out a big rat nest of cable... lol I just switched out the wireless circuit though, never thaught about vandals... good idea.

If you want a really inexpensive way, find yourself a tyre retreader and get a roll of outdated tread rubber. You can get it up to like 8"s or so... I got a full roll of a traction style truck tread for free. The only downside is that it is quite heavy compared to the thin flare stuff... Heres a pic ...

Could be a new defective, wrong part number, a burr on the yoke, faulty install (happens to the best of us), etc.
I would swap it out and check those things while ya' got the yoke off...

I had the T-max cordless remote on my 11,000 winch to and never had no dramas with it. I never did find the max range either and it had very little delay too.
