Modify 80 Tacho from 6Cyl to 8 Cyl
Does any one know how to do this? I have recently converted an 80 from 1fz to ls2 and the tacho doesn't show rpm. I understand it can be done with a potentiometer but i am at a loss as to where i should start.
Thanks, d

I would be using the a442 landcruiser autO from my fzj I don't want 1000hp as it is my Dailey driver and it tows my winch truck around so I do want some grunt I can expect it to be a bit thirsty towing but I'm flat out getting 400ks per tank to mostly hiway driving on 33s I have put an exhaust and ...

Re: Ls1 into fzj80 auto conversion plus fuel economy
An old guy in Sydney has a 100 series running the ls2 with the Toyota auto. He took it to Bullit (they do v8 swaps for Mazdas i think) and the only way they could get it to work was to run the Toyota ecm and bcm (ie: fit all the sensors from the Toyota v8 to the gm v8. It worked well but was being ...

Re: Ls1 into fzj80 auto conversion plus fuel economy
Any sort of conversion is going to cost money. If you want it to be reliable then it will have to be done properly - no short cuts, which costs more money. Generally, anyone putting an LS engine into their car aren't looking for economy, they want power! If you produce more power then you will ...

Re: My leaf spring front has a panhard - why?
Pull it off. I removed the sway bar and panhard rod off the front of my Rocky, and didnt notice a lot of difference on road, but it made a big difference off road. Lets face it, they are not the best sports car on the road. If you lift lifted suspension, and keep the standard panhard, it will pull ...

Re: Headlight upgrades, my experience.
I have found, time after time, that the best headlight upgrades are:
- better cable + relays
- higher wattage/better quality globes
In that order, too - cable first. Pretty much all factory looms use cable that's too light.

Re: Headlight upgrades, my experience.
Did you replace the whole light/reflector or just the globes with the hid setup? The HID conversion I did on my 80 which was the whole light and globe setup hobzee used to sell and it is awesome. I pulled my spotlights off because the hid's just outshone them and had made them useless.

Hi all,
I was recently contacted by another Outers member to find out some information on upgrading the lights in his 4wd. I then realised that this information should be shared with everyone on here so, to save me retyping all of it i will just post the letters i wrote:

Re: 80 Series BOSS 260 conversion, anyone seen it done???
VooDoo how does the Boss 260 make less power than the LS1, both can be tuned in stock form to nearly 300kw and possibly 550 Nm of torque.
Its always made less power than the LS1, takes up twice as much room and weighed twice as much. They don't rev as well, upgrading cams is 4 times as expensive ...

The biggest trouble we have been having is moving the engine/trans around and being able measure accurately. Yes we have a forklift and an engine crane but both are not really great – leaky hydraulics you see. So to beat this i made make shift mounts which bolt to the engine and sit on top of the ...
