Re: How long Does a Water pump last

If you do want to make life a little easier for if/when the current pump fails, spend some time and cut the shroud so you don't have to do half as much on the side of the road.

Re: 1fzfe to th400 has anyone done it

Biggest problem I encountered when I wanted to put GM box behind 12ht was that Marks, Dellows etc are only interested and only make adaptors etc to fit aftermarket (different brand) motors to original gearboxes. They are in no way interested in different brand gearboxes to original motors. you need ...

Re: 12ht to 80 gearbox

Hi red, yes the early 442 where hydraulic, the later ones conrolled by solonoids. You would need the later 442 box. I have driven an 80 with this system http://www.automatictransmission.com.au/release.asp?NewsId=41076" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and it was terrific to drive giving ...

Re: 12ht to 80 gearbox

Yes Gaza the a440f is a straight match, the 12ht came from the factory with it. The a442 is solonoid type , thus the switchable lock up. According to wholesale auto I would need another transfercase (not sure why) that they have available new for $2k then a differnt input shaft etc etc etc and a ...

Re: 12ht to 80 gearbox

I am currently running the stock a440f. the 440 can only have tc lock up in 4th (standard) and 3rd and 4th (wholesale auto mod). the 440 runs a lock up torque convertor. The 442 can have torque convertor lockup in all gears and it is controlled through the valve body. A modification kit (wholesale ...

Go to the wreckers and find another toyota wheel you like. take it to car park and see if it fits 9 out of 10 will. if not take it back inside and look for something else off a toyota.

Re: 2H + Turbo - worth converting FJ62?

2H take well to aftermarket turbo but probably best to not go over about 12 psi.I would go stock pistons for a rebuild, they run to 500k klms regularly without trouble.Depending on condition of body and how long you plan on keeping it as to if it is worth doing.

Re: Aquired a HJ61RG, found some 'isses' on way home.

Put the balance tube on it.The oil is normally pumped from the tranfer box into the gear box which over fills and comes out the breather (your symptoms). the balance tube will recirculate the oil back to the transfer.Either that or pull the box and replace the seal.Cheaper and easier to fit the ...

Re: The New National Code for vehicle mods.

With Tyres 31's are not 31 inch they are usually slightly over, 33's are not 33 inch they are usually just under (some brands a lot under), so 33's will pass without a problem if you check the brand and manufacturers specs and choose accordingly

Re: Alternator which produces high output at idle

My 60 does run an external reg so I just bought an adjustable one.The fuse replacement thing Is I think ( could be wrong) a diode that tricks the alt into thinking it is putting out less voltage than it is so it boosts its output. i.e alt is putting out 13.8. you add diode and alt thinks it is ...

Re: Alternator which produces high output at idle

My stock 55 amp alt (60 seriescruiser) puts out 14.4 at 750 revs, external reg adjusted for the higher output. You can buy a thing that replaces your standard fuse and increases the alt voltage output. They sell for about $20, I think Jaycar sells them.

Re: Alternator which produces high output at idle

Sounds more like you need to adjust the reg so you have higher voltage at idol, this will of course flow through for the whole rev range.13.8 at high revs is far too low , most modern batteries run at 14.4 max charging volts.

Re: standard 12HT exaust temps

550 post turbo is about what a stock 12ht runs at (perhaps a little higher). Pre turbo run up about the 700 mark. This is probably a little higher than original from the factory but as you add mileage to them they tend to run a little richer. You could try turning your fuel down a little to see if ...

check the engine number on the rego papers and you will know if rego dept know of engine change or not. if you need to do blue plate for seating, look at going 9 seat. !! seats makes it a bus for rego and can cost more and require yearly inspection

Good strong box, needs additional trans cooler (heat kills these boxes). If you are planning on uping the boost on the turbo the box needs no more than 18lb boost with a 22:1 fuel ratio dropping to 18:1 to remain reliable.

Re: 2H turbo question

Denco systems seem to get good reports. 2h seem to take well to turboing and produce good power and torque at the same boost pressure as 12ht. Longevity is always a question but you will get 200k klms minimum out of the tueboed 2h. Cost wise you can probably do two 2h's for the price of one 12ht .
