Re: IS there any after market suspension you'd not recommend

Ironman are too firm and leak.

Seen some outright dangerous failures (mounting "ring" seperating from shock body) with EFS.

in my experience with ford rangers (same car) old man emu suspension gave my mates bit of lift and made it much more comfortable to drive. just needed to lift your leg a bit higher to get in!

Re: air lockers, which one?

just wondering what people think is the better locker now that the tjm ones have been out for a while. arb or tjm? cheers That's a reasonable question, lockers are a big investment and if I was buying new I would want to research it too. Hope you get some sensible answers, I have only ever owned ...

you all have it wrong. a radiator is a great heat exchanger. it can get rid of the heat very quickly. its the water running through the engine that cant exchange heat fast enough. if water is flowing too fast through an engine block it will not have sufficent time to absorbe heat from the engine ...

You could run a line lock on each line ? Correct me if I am wrong, but do air lockers unlock when under load. Say you are going up a steep, rocky ...

has the head been apart???? valve adjustments correct? (do 2f's have hydrolic lifters??? maybe need to pump up)

i would attempt to tow start it for a few hundred meters then look at borrowing coils etc if it does not start.

im sure that you can see fuel mist in the carby when you pump it.

just drill a hole in the top of the fuel bowl, tap a thread, screw in an airline fitting, run airline to your boost. easy boost referenced carby. you may need to up your fuel pressure (or drop boost pressure) if you find that it is always leaning out

its possible that its stripped teeth off the crown wheel/pinion. It will all move in a no load situation like you discribe. is generally very noisey though.

pull the head off and send it to a cylinder head specialist to be crack tested and re-surfaced. no point spending extra cash on a newer 3f that is exactly the same.

if it didnt move it will be fine. its not a common thing to go wrong but it is a cause of seal failure and very easy to check. a bit of air coming out is ok its when it blows a gail with traces of smoke you have problems. sounds like you just need to throw some seals at it. i personally dont care if ...

afro its not leaking to bad by the sounds of it. 170,000 out of a rear main seal is pretty good.

the crank endfloat should be fine at 170,000kms. basically by prying the balancer back and forwards against the engine you can see if there is any movement in the crank.

We pull the valves out on purpose and only do a full fill when heading out the bush and need some decent range. The car is never parked with a full tank.

a propperly maintained K&N wont filter dust.

someone that doesnt know how to clean and oil a K&N properly will loose the airflow they claim to provide.

Stay with standard. I would prefer to loose a bee's dick of stuff all performance on a fourby to make sure the engine was well protected.

If you want to get technical NOS isnt a fuel.

generally speaking it can be very unsafe in a vehicle, As with every other type of pressurised cylinders unless designed with failsafes like vehicle lpg cylinders.
