Re: FZJ105R fuel economy help / maybe a conversion

i went to Newcastle last week towing a empty car trailer and averaged 4.3k's a litre, not good thats about 23L/100km, sucks but pretty normaly for a 3 tonne rig drinking petrol towing a trailer - I have had as bad as 25-26L per 100km on a long haul no trailer (but roofrack full 60cm high) with 5 ...

just pull it out doesn't really do any thing It was the sump being loose BTW. Mavrik, do you mean simply grip it and rip it? or is there a proper way of removing it. Admittedly i was covered in oil and in a bad mood last time i looked at trying to remove it but couldn't even begin to see how it was ...

Basically, there is no way to tell if the welds are upto task without testing. Be that in a workshop or by using it for a few hundred thousand ks. Mid welds that look great can be weak as piss, and I've seen bird poo mig welds outlast the item they were holding together. However if the manufacturer ...

I reckon a 40 series would be the go. Solid trucks and easy to modify (look great too) With your budgetvthe only problem will be finding one without too much rust. mmm 40  tough on that price though. My last 2.8 HIlux turbo with decent suspension system ended up selling for about 5k from ...

Re: New Fj cruiser roof rack options??

To be honest, mid 500's sounds about right. most 2 bar racks are 300 - 400 depending on quality. Every single vehicle needs to have its own attachments developed for every model so its not quite as mass produced as you would expect - (it is mass produced but not like generic stuff is).

Oil leak - sump or Rear main

So my GU TD42T is leaving quite the puddle and I thought it would be the rear main, but before forking out big dollars I have scrubbed it clean... several times trying to confirm where its coming from. Not super easy to tell to be honest. But I did notice a little oil on the sump bolts and checked ...

Thanks Fellas.

I will contact the guys at the fitting station mentioned.

I have even wondered about modifying a gear stick so that it is effectively further towards me to make gear changes better in the 3 seater.

Cheers

I wouldn't have a problem with 350 they are well known to pass 500 untouched - but having said that general wear and tear will see more things worn of course. Early GU - pre 2002 had a problem with 5th gear - it was modified to have a shorted spline and the spline can be torn from loading up in 5th ...

I would suggest balance, several times ive had a balance done and driven away thinking what the hell this drives terribly! I would also just get the arb ones fixed again - but somewhere different - people either seem to have no trouble or lots of trouble with air lockers.

If you think the original is too unreliable why consider an inferior version? surely this point to more issues.

Pull the injectors and have them tested. I had a similar think happen and it had broken 2 injector springs and jammed the nozzles. Sounded like it had done a big end bearing and smoked heavily(white). X2 Diesel + compression + timing = running. If compression and timing are then either it's fuel ...

Re: gq 4" lift

Yeah too hard to say. Different lifts/brands etc get different results by quite a margin then there is settling etc. You dont need 4 inch lift for your tyres 2 is plenty for 33's plus a fraction of the cost to do as you don't need nearly as many mods to make it drive right again. Eg camber, brake ...

Cruiser and patrol rims both ute and wagon work fine, but can actually be fairly expensive especially in 16's. 15 will be the cheapest.

I had 70 series ute steel 16s on my ln106.

Just don't make the mistake of getting ifs hilux rims, they are cheap but offset is all wrong and won't even bolt up.

It is but if the flow pattern isn't as good it can effectively restrict flow. It wouldn't be my first guess normally but since that's what's changed it's where I'd start.

this sounds odd, but bigger might not necessarily flow as well as you hope, through turbulence or no bell curve on the lips of outlet etc? - if its taking longer to spool up and getting hot im guessing its your new intake system. if the air is restricting somewhere - less air = richer mixture = more ...
