Only reason to replace the torsion bars would be to increase the spring rate. ie. if you have a bullbar, winch, dual battery etc. If you have nothing up front I wouldn't bother but any extra weight and I would consider replacing them with something designed to take the extra weight.

Have a look at the ironman 2" kits. They come with replacement torsion bars, leaf springs, and gas shocks for about a grand. Can fit 265/75 (about 32") with this combo. The 15" wheels are not only cheaper but the rubber to go on them are much cheaper. I've used 33" 15's on my maverick for years and it is a very heavy beast without any blow outs or punctures whatsoever.

Ok in these pics you can see the 2 oil lines for the oil cooler that I was talking about and you can see that the bellhousing is wet from oil on this side.
