75 series ratchet sound from front diff

Hi a mate of mine has a 75 ute and it has a sound like a spline slipping when under load in 4WD. My idea is that he has a split inner on the CV which is causing this. All oils in the drive train have been checked and are fine, the outer splines onto the hubs are ok and the front slip shaft is good ...

2 things 2.4's hate are hills and sand. They were not a bad donk but low on grunt. Hope you smoke as you will have plenty of spare time as you travel.

1HZ water pump change

Hi all has any one changed a water pump on a 1HZ ???

By the looks of it the timing case has to be removed and to do this the cam pully has to come off also.
this looks like a lot of work for a water pump and will need some special tool to remove the cam pully.

Any help would be great

Re: i want skinny rims and tires...advice please

Most tyre mobs do metric radials for these rims 235/85 is the same diameter as the 750/16 but wider across the tread.
Just picked up a set of rags this weekend and they will be for spares as they are verv agressive.

Re: Thoughts on ex mine vehicles

We have had about 6 cruisers over the time and all have come from the vic coal mines. These cars need to be checked over well but in the auction yard you can't drive them. Out of all the cruisers we never had a dud and the biggest job was the 3 day detail to get rid of the coal dust. One if these ...

Re: Swamper 34x10.5r16's on stock yota rims

I have 33x10.5 Extreams on 15x8 rims and would not change a thing. The wider rim alows the tread to lay flatter on the rd. Have heard of blokes getting much better performance from the Creepies by going to 10" rims also. I have a set of bfg 33x10.5 on 7's and dont think the old 7's will ever get ...

Castor wedges should be able to comp for the angle of the leaves. Only draw back is the slight lowering of the spring packs in relation to the diff.

Thats the whole idea of the block. Double line pull = twice the breaking strain. You won't break the cable but it will take twice the time to get out.

just a quick note if it is a 2 speed winch the high speed is for cable recovery only and will not pull a full load.
the low speed is for extraction of said 4x4.

Re: 40 series coil sprung.

I think its called add a coil. They were in one of the 4x4 monthly mags and you strip down your leaf packs to compensate for the coil. I have spoken with blokes that have had them done and all had good reports. I was thinking of getting it done to my 75 front end when I was hanging around the cape ...

How about a 60 series tank 90l and you get to keep your spare under the back.
I put one under my 75 and with the cut down 80 it should be a piece of cake.

I dont think you will have any problems unless you stick the hose in the snorkle, All the ones I have fitted have had the water drain glued shut as we have found it to let more water in while submerged for long times than what will come in with rain. You would need to spend hours in the rain to fill ...

I think your question is more do I want seats or tray space .
If you are making the choice based on looks don't start the cut.

You could put the 33's in the 80 with no lift if you wanted.

I have a 2" with no body lift and run 33's on wide offset sunnys only time they rub is on compleat compression as they stick out under the flairs.

I will fix this with a small extension of the bump stops.

If the PTO box os off a 60 then it will fit the last of the 40,s The 60,s the 75,s and the first of the 79,s. The 80,s had a different TC and so did the later 79,s

Just have a look at the PTO cover and it will be very easy to see if its the one for you.

all the best wit it.

Harks I had a 96 75 and got at best 620
but on the other hand with a big load and 33's only 400.
All depends on the load and the speed you want to travel
average probably about 500 for 90 litres
