gudday,

TD42T with a few goodies, 30 + psi, built engine 5 years ago, tows a 3 ton boat, gets driven hard, still going strong on Fuchs XTM15w40, blew a head gasket and over heated badly - when head was pulled I expected to see uglyness but this oil held together. there's probably better out there ...

You could also fit a Dawse Valve in the system to regulate boost?

Nope. it'll only increase boost.........i fitted a external waste gate as it suited my application and dumped unwanted charge air quickly, it also gives you the ability to play around with the gates opening pressure easily by ...

Garth, are you not happy with your motor build?

not by any means.......been running it hard for 3-4 years now, had boost set at 30psi for a long time but with the towing it wasnt going to last forever (boats 3.5 ton) so wasn't too surprised when a leak appeared.
Still hits 27psi regularly and is ...

Re: cluch issues

gudday

(if the petty clutch is set up the same as the diesel) i had same issue, it was air, as the engine heated up the air expanded pushing in the clutch.....they are a prick to bleed with the clutch line loop running up the fire wall creating a natural air trap.

The best way I found was to ...

gudday dave

I guess you can play around with it at a later date to see what works for you.
When I first did a tune for max power we set it up with as much as 6' advance which was great for EGT's and the huge PWR ali radiator looked after the heat no probs but ended up doing a head gasket after 12 ...

2. Remove the 12mm hex plug from the back of the fuel pump.

3. Install the dial gauge and fitting and preload the gauge ...

Re: GQ clutch playing up on occasions

sound like a bleed issue, as the engine warms up the air lock volume increases and pushes the clutch in or decreases free-play until it slips. They are hard to bleed as there is a high loop behind the engine that holds air.
The best way i have found to bleed is to pressure bleed from slave nipple ...

The GU 4.8 brakes are the best, but the rotors are suitable only for a 16" rim (and GU master Cylinder etc) so may not suit your rig........Looks like expensive rubber you have on there and I doubt you'll be keen to buy that again!!
