Re: Stainless Steel Exhaust
Why stainless? You've already seen a steel one can last 12 years, and still be good, not good enough? Plus the fact that if you do take it off road and it gets damaged, it costs more to repair. Personally, I'd only put a stainless exhaust on a very tidy street car, and only because it looks better ...

Re: 200 series Driveshaft recall. Why?
A bit of googling and apparently the problem is a clunking shaft. The "fix" done by some dealers is to file/grind away some of the spline, Does anyone know about this, and wether it fixes the problem or if its only temporary?
Some shafts (like the one I have) were just replaced.

200 series Driveshaft recall. Why?
Hey all, got a quick question. I have a 200 series rear driveshaft in my posession, have had it for a long time and cant remember the reason why I have it! It was a recalled/replacement from a low km vehicle, apparently a common problem in the 200 series, but unsure what the issue is/was. Can anyone ...

Thanks mate!
3) can the system be flushed through the oil cooler lines? Eg put pressure line into empty bucket and suction line into clean oil. Will it work?

Some Q's about external auto coolers
I am going to be fitting an external air oil cooler to my automatic and bypassing the factory water cooled unit. I have some questions i hope someone can answer. 1) If the height of the top of the cooler is higher than the full mark on the gearbox, does this mean when the engine is off that oil will ...

Re: Do battery gauges use much power?
I left it connected for approx 24 hrs and the gauge felt slightly warm to touch, so ive connected a push button.
I was trying to be lazy and bypass the installation and the 'effort' of pushing a button, but not worth NOT doing it.

Do battery gauges use much power?
I want to install a battery gauge to monitor a deep cycle battery and want to know if its ok to leave it permanently ON. Do they use much power to leave on? The battery is connected to a solar panel which is constantly on, not an alternator, and is used only on camp trips every month or so. Thanks ...

Re: Solutions for camping power? which battery/charging meth
Just think out loud here (well... in text) But why switch off the fridge? The fridge compressor will cut in and out to maintain temperature, so its not constantly pulling amps. Switching it off over night will make the temp increase from say 3deg to 6-7deg and when you turn the fridge back on it ...

Dont take it to a tyre shop, a shop which looks like it has anything to do with 4x4's or any big business.
Look for small crappy garages, (the ones with one really fat mechanic, and one really slim one, both with missing teeth) and you'd be fine.

This is the solar charger that is fitted: http://www.photonage.com.au/solar-charger-controller-6a-p-10185.html In my opinion it is working correctly. I'm going to try without the 240 charger for now and just get a decent deep cycle battery which charges only via the solar panel. The battery will ...

When the van is in my front yard not in use I don't/won't have the charger running, only the solar panel which is constantly connected. That's what I was thinking, charger no good. Terminals were right way round and it was on correct setting. If I replaced the charger with a ctek (not sure which model) but can the charger be left connected to the battery when plugged in at a powered camp site (even if battery is full) will this ...

Hey all, I recently acquired a 3 way fridge which I plan to run on gas when parked and 12v only when driving. The plug for 12v is actually a 2 pin (t shaped) plug. 3 way fridges on gas in enclosed room?
Just wondering how safe it is to be sleeping in a tent or caravan while a gas operated fridge is running?
Assuming there is no gas leaking from any fittings.
Would all new 3 ways come with a safety off if the pilot were to extinguish?

How to store water tanks?
Just wondering what the procedure is if you have water tanks in your 4x4/caravan etc, when they arent being used for a month or so. Does the water tank have to be drained and dried 100%? Im guessing the answer is yes, but in some cases (such as mine) its difficult to get every drop of water out. Do ...

Re: 35" inch tyres
Short answer - Yes they will rub. Unless you have no flex. I have 5" suspension lift and 33x12.5" on 15x8" rims and 45mm offset, rubbed when flexed up. The main rubbing was inside the rear wheel arches (just above chassis rails) and possibly the front mud flaps, cant remember. I also have drop boxes ...
