THANKS!

Good idea using a testlight - never heard that before - but it makes sense. (I'd have just played with a multimeter)

I'll try that tomorrow!

Tapping into the Central Locking

I have an alarm I'm going to fit to the 08 GU, which already has remote central locking. To get the alarm to lock/unlock my doors, where to I take it's door-wires? Do I have to run them all the way out to the door handle where the lock switch is? Cos that would be a PITA. I expect there's a little b...

How do I get to the reversing light bulb?

Stop laughing and rolling your eyes! The RH reversing bulb has gone in my brand spanking Pootrol (I'm not convinced it ever worked) so it's a simple bulb replacement. Hardly a technical operation and well within my skill level - I thought -until 'tried to get the plastic cover off and guess what -no...

I use SmartComGPS in place of Ozi on the phone - very similar in features to OziCE or perhaps a bit better even. There are freeware converters to it's map format from JPG, ozi maps etc. Works like a charm, and i always have it in my pocket.

Clunking disconnects, too long? Bent pins... ???

Here's my front discos in place - are they too long? http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h226/muirnin/22052008157Medium.jpg THEY MAKE A HELL OF A RACKET! Is that normal? When I checked what all the noise was about, I saw the pins had bent too, just on normal road use (and a slightly bumpy driveway). h...

Hella Plugs? Anderson Plugs? 12v cig lighter plugs replaced

I want to get rid of my cigarette lighter plugs and install something different. My old dad has what I think are "Hella" or "Merit" plugs in his truck. My BMW 1150 GS Adventure (big off road touring bike) has the same, built-in. Where do I get these cheap(ish)? There's a dude on ...

Bandaids are good for leeches, but not much else. They used to say put a bandaid over a snake bite to collect sprayed venom, which could be used to test for the kind of snake - but it's BS. All they do is help a leech bite which would otherwise free-bleed and cause a mess. If it's such a small injur...

Some batteries are designed to be bashed around (good speed boat batteries, 4WD speciality units) and some are not (truck, big boat, car) If you get one that's not, the plates can be too thin or not secured well enough, and can break off, short out ... dead battery.
