The LS9 would probably work well. Lots of bottom end. 6.2 litre supercharged from the factory making about 640hp before tweaking. That'll spin up the 44's.

I plan on doing most of the work myself, I might pay someone to cut and weld the new panel in but am pretty keen to do it myself. There is only one place in Weipa that does it and they want around $9000 for complete job with tray.

Well depends which state you are in but it doesn't take much lift to fit 35's to them I have heard a 1" bodylift does the trick, but then others have said you need a 1" body lift to run 33's, if you fit 35's it would be illegal anyway, but 33's are definately legal, they come factory with 32's ...

I am waiting for the 5.7 Hemi.
The Rubi also comes standard with 4:1 reduction transfer as well as the diff locks disconnects and plenty more tricks the japs will soon copy.
Heck next they'll be copying things like 3.2 transfer case ratios, 4 wheel discs and coil spring live axles from 1971 ...

I think the way some speed and timed 4x4 comps are run has to take some blame. If you had no clue about 4x4ing and went to speed and timed comp your first impression of 4x4ing would that its about going through the bush on the rev-limter as fast a possible with no regard for track damage or car ...

They close 60-80% of tracks and they have to expect the remaining ones to be worked harder.
I don't see a problem with hard sections of track as long as a good chicken track is maintained around it.

I put a GQ disk brake rear end under my old GQ, but you had to change the whole thing as the housings are slightly different width from drum brake to disc rear ends, and there's a spacer block ibn the diff too apparently to sort the axle lengths out.

Nope - semi floating.
