Actually all this towing will take place in Lebanon where the trucks are....Lots of Rangies have been coming there since the early days.

I will be towing short distances relatively ( 50-70 km) but some uphills.

When going uphills will it need low gear engaged ?

Thanks

Your best bet is to do have the Toy diffs under your rover otherwise breakage will always be an issue. I went through 2 stock diffs, front and rear axles with 32" Simex. I got all my kit and 30 spline axles to fit from Rovertracks.....It is worth every dollar as the truck is pretty much bullet proof ...

The Rangie will pull it much better if you put Stage 1 Land Rover high ratio in it. This will take the high range ratio to 1.336 instead of the standard ratios. Easy to do you dont have to pull the box just change the gears in situ Which gears would i have to change ? Would these be off a defender ...

Towing with a 1983 Range Rover

Looking to tow a rock crawling truck on 49" tyres with my 1983 Range Rover ( LT 95 Gearbox and 3.9 Engine ). I have not weighted it yet but i would say weight of the truck alone is 6000 lbs ( 2700 Kgs) I have never towed before so maybe trailer would be around 700 kgs. Here is a pic the truck that i ...

I personally think yes as stock its 5 1/4" backspacing so with 35X12.5" tyres and backspacing of 3" you're adding a fair bit of leverage compared to stock. Plenty run them like that though or with 3.5" backspacing anyway. Cheers Steve Yes with a 8" wheel and 3" Backspacing : Tyre is 5" out and 3 ...

I did check 4x4 wire but there is no forum for the Mitsubishi - it s empty There is most definitely a Mitsubishi section there. I'm on it pretty-much daily. If you are having troubles finding it, post up what URL you are going to. As McV said, it's busier that the Mitsubishi section here on ...

Is 3" Backspacing too much?

Have an extra set of 15x8 with 3" Backspacing. I am thinking to put it on instead of the 15x8 with 4" Backspacing.
Truck will see highway miles and off-road in the Gulf.

Will 3" Backspacing be too much on the bearings and steerin components?

Thanks

My 95 took 33s with the fronts t-bars cranksed a little. Not sure if you NEED some non-factory wheels that are wider and with betteroffset/backspacing. Should get some 8" though for 33s. They clear the bumbper ends except on a tight turn under fuller steering lock, like when turning into the ...

Is your friend in the US I as well? If so, 91 here is the last of the Gen 1s. The US market gets them a year later, and without some of the cool stuff our mates down under, and in other places get. Get a set of mid-90s Montero rear springs and crank the t-bars. Assuming 33x12.5s, you will need ...

Does it clear the 32" well enough? Who makes your lift kit....is it available in the US.
For 33" do i need more lift?

Thanks

Fitting 33"

A buddy of mine has 1991 Montero 4 door. I believe it would be a Gen2
We are looking to fit in 33":

- What lift would be needed? Who can supply it in the US?
- What ring and pinion ratio would be needed to properly gear it

Thanks
