Every quarter of a turn would indicate a universal joint binding...isn't there one between the steering column and the steering box itself ? or maybe near the firewall ?
Been doing any creek crossings ?
I had one seize up in a Toyota Camry from over enthusiastic washing...the uni joints are ...

I suspect my Challenger has the same box. I find it smooth and responsive but too ready to kickdown into third when towing a small 14 foot aluminium caravan. because of that habit I can't get the V6 to really upen up and work hard..it just likes to rev.... And in this role there is an annoyance at ...

NEW NAMES .. I love it !!!! Leafy and Coily.. don't they sound like a couple of unshaven drinking partners.
My coily continues to surprise and delight. A recent wheel alignment and replacement of roll bar bushes has made it smoother and less "jiggly" through the steering wheel.

Yesterday I had the sway bar bushes replaced on my Challenger... magic !!!The socketty looseness I was feeling has gone... also was advised to keep tyre pressures up higher than the Mitsubishi recommended figures.
While they were at it they replaced the bolts on the base of the upper wishbones as ...

Thanks for the clues. I will proceed with caution. I remember the crankshaft sender on my wife's Ford Laser had me bluffed.. it just wouldn't stsrt after a cambelt change... KNEW I had it all right... all except for the 3mm air gap on the crankshaft sensor.I had moved the sensor to keep it safely ...

challenger clunks
Me again,
My Challenger auto has a habit that has me bluffed. After braking and coming to a stop there is a heavy sounding but muffled clunk through the floor when brakes are released.. sort of a wind up/release situation. The thump sounds to be about in line with the front seats... it it likely to ...

Challenger timing belt
Hi Guys,
I have bought a dayco timing belt kit for my Challenger and have been reading up about the job. The kit contains two bearings one presumably is an idler the other for the tensioner... here's the mystery.... The 6G72 documents for single camshaft and 2 valves per cylinder show only a spring ...

Thanks for all the advice. I had to return to Repco this morning. Their Dayco catalog reference ## for the power steering pump belt is wrong ( as available on their wedsite ) and so the sales man referred to the original Mitsubishi belt that carries a code about the belt length... right belt and it ...

CHALLENGER ( V6 3000 ) TIMING BELT KIT $$$$$
Hi folks, I enquired at my local Repco this morning about the price of a timing belt kit for a Challenger ( 24 valve V6 3000 motor ) as in Pajeros I believe.. Is $ 375 for a kit ( that includes idlers but not a hydraulic tensioning device from the catalog listing ) a fair price ???

green 4WD light flashing ... why?
Hello Brains Trust,
My 2001 Challenger automatic has developed a strange habit. The green 4WD light on the dashboard will not go out. No 4WD action or passing over flooded crossings or even driving in heavy rain.
I have put it into 4WD, 4WD Low range and out again and still the light flashes. It ...

Thanks guys,
There is no feathering and after about 1000 ks the new Dueler 694s (?) still have the moulding dimples visible.
I was running at the recommended pressure ( 26 PSI ) but this arvo boosted pressure to 36 and the "problem" has all but disappeared.... so maybe just a bit of oversensitivity ...

Challenger steering adjustments ?????
Having now gotten used to my 2001 ( sold 2002 ) LS Challenger over the last 3 months and fitting two new Bridgestones, I have noticed a tremor at the straight ahead position... it isn't there with the steering wheel at anything just off straight ahead.. so I assume it is not a wheel balance problem ...

Just returned from about 1000 ks towing a light camping trailer at highway speeds and minor country roads.. used 11 litres per 100 ks in a V6 Challenger auto.
Had the auto serviced yesterday. That makes a difference to sharp gear changes. I have yet to really notice the INVECS system at work.. and ...

I have recently bought a 3 litre automatic Challenger..
At highway speeds and light traffic we returned 10.5 litres per 100 ks and today I fuelled it after a week of short trips and city use.. the figure was 15 litres/100 ks.
I can't complain about the highway use. It is amazingly strong and built ...

Timing belts on a Challenger 3 litre V6
This has probably been covered lots of times but I am basically lazy !
How often is replacement supposed to be done ? Is it decided as a function of distance travelled or time or a combination of both ?
In a worst case scenario is this an interference engine ? Will valves hit pistons or will it fail ...

INVECS automatic habits
Can anyone enlighten me. How does the "learning my driving style" capacity of the transmission fitted to a Challenger actually take to change its parameters ?... How long does it need to relearn ? Will a short blast with a heavy foot do it ? Does it store the data for a set distance or time ? A set ...
