Re: Bad GQ dash squeaks

It could be your bonnet hinges. As weird as it sounds mine started as a creak and a groan and ended in an annoying clucketty cluck. Turns out the pivot point of my bonnet hinges was flogged out and they were flapping against the firewall and the sound was traveling into the cab.

Re: 4.2 into a 1998 2.8 Wag

I'm keen to read about this also if anyone has some info. I looked into this as a cheaper alternative to bending over for the price of a 4.2 Gu. I'm not 100% but I think the td42 you slot in has to be out of a car of the same series and/or emissions blanket. As in you can't put an early Gq td42 into ...

Re: D40 2.5/127 kw exhaust?

Is it a new model with DPF or earlier without DPF? If it has a dpf youl need a dump with threaded ports to take the sensors, if the sensors aren't in there it will automatically sense a pressure increase and put s fault in the computer.

Re: Superflex arms pros & cons ?

You won't max your front shocks out with superflex arms. Not with the variation between spring and shock you have. Even with the superflex arms there's still heaps of bind in the front end of a patrol. I know guys with 5" springs and 6" shocks that can't max out with super flex arms. They should ...

stock compression should be around the 427psi with a +/- 80psi differential between cylinders.
i have a rebuilt short motor at home that im selling and i only recently comp tested it because it wouldnt run, reason being was a faulty injector pump.

Worth doing big ends on td42 when turbocharging?

Hey guys, I'm about to strap a Huffer to my 300k old td42. Is it worth rolling in some new big ends while the sump is off? Anyone done this? I assume I can just undo the big end caps and roll some new slippers into the big ends?
Any help would be sweet. Cheers folks

Oh well things change, and so must rules. At the end of the day what's a length or two of new pipe and some new dies when you've just gone and spent 2-3k on tyres or a v8 conversion. Most trucks in TT, the cage is the cheapest bit of gear on the truck ( stupid considering it saves you and your rig ...

Td42 won't idle, missing, white smoke heeelp!

Got a td42. It runs, but it runs like a bag of bum. Comp tested all cylinders within spec, checked timing marks in timing case and the "Z" lines up with the "ZZ". Checked if injectors are getting fuel, adjusted valves, ran new fuel to see if it was poo in the tank. Asside from putting a new pump and ...

Bio diesel destroys seals and other components on older engines. You can however have all the seals and o-rings swapped for compatible items, but hardly worth it. Drive shaft uni's should never be straight. They should always work on a slight angle. As for your noisy taily. Pump and or cam 180 degrees out. Timing marks will line up if this is the case so easy mistake. Pull the pump out and turn it 180, then if that doesn't work check the cam. Just thought I'd throw in a tip, you can make some good simple bush press tools by finding some ally pipe the same diameter as the bush with a decent wall thickness so it sits on top nicely. Cut it to the same length as said bush and then using a 1mm cutting disc, cut a diagonal into it. This means ...

Big road trucks use a leaf spring at the back of the gear box to
Hold it up. Could work for u if u make slots for each of the spring to sit
In. Give it a bit of flex if u were to hit it.
