Antenna next to pipe rack?
Have just installed a UHF in the 80 series and I mounted the antenna on the front left edge of the top rail on the Ali bullbar on a tab I had welded on. Didn't think about the removable Ali Y shaped bar used to support pipe that is only 150mm away from the antenna. In my defence the bar wasn't in ...

Well I have finally made a decision and have gone for 265/75R16 Mickey Thompson ATZ. At the end of the day I went with the tyre dealer that I trusted and followed his advice. He really only deals with trucks and 4x4's wanting good tyres and has been in the same shop for about 20 years so he must ...

Looking to update the tyres at the moment and I am as confused as a blind lesbian in a fish market.. What I want is a tyre that is better than average off the road but needs to do lots or road kms pulling a heavy trailer so I want lots of kms out of them too. I know I know that what I want is a tyre ...

The bags are just suspension aids as the trailer weighs nearly 2 tons loaded. Read up on all the do and don'ts before I touched them and so far they have been fantastic. 25 psi and the rear just settles maybe 10mm when the trailer is hitched up. Going to play with pressures in them now to find a ...

Dude everyone does have to start somewhere but what concerns people most is you asking if you can do donuts locked in!! What this sport needs most is young new blood but what it needs least is reckless hoon behaviour. That will get you and who ever is in your car killed. Ask questions by all means ...

Just had a 2' lifted lovell springs, scorched 4 offroad shock, scorched 4 steering damper and rear poly air bags fitted to my 80 series cruiser along with all the bushes blah blah and am stoked with the results. With the bags down the ride is soft and just seems to mold into the road but pump them ...

The problem is that I cant access the bolts as the head side is facing into the dash from underneath if you can follow that. The only thing that I can get too is the threaded end and that is recessed about 6 mm into the female side of the two pieces of the support that is wrapped around the steering ...

Bought the car BECAUSE it didn't have all the extra gear. What it doesn't have can't break. Thought that there would be a different harness fitted because it isn't spec'd up. Having power and grounds is fine but like I said there are heaps of wires there and they all look like 1mm stuff, not much ...

Unused wiring on 80 series
Got under the dash and noticed heaps of unused wiring plugs on the factory harness, what the hell is it all for?
There appears to be at least 6, 8, maybe 10 different size plugs some with as many as a dozen wires hooked up.

Replacing ignition barrel
Just had the barrel lock up on me on my 80 series cruiser. The car is still under 200 000 k's. Not very happy. Is this a common problem and how much is a new one going to cost me? What about fitting? it looks as though I will have to drill the old one out as the fixings don't have any heads, its ...

I sat down had a good long talk with myself abouts "needs" and "wants" and have decided that a pair of 1W hand helds are all that I need, and the full car mount, and the you bewdy antenna, were really overkill. All of my driving will be line of site stuff. Biggest distance out to maybe a 1000 meters ...

UHF brands
It seems like the general opinion is a UHF is one of the first things that I should be looking at getting. What then are some of the entry level brands or models that I should be looking at or avoiding? Also as I am a complete novice in this new sport of mine what about antenna's? there seems to be ...

My tires were definately part of the problem. They were brand new when I bought the car and obviously the previous owner or the car yard put on the cheapest rubber they could find, Roadstone A/T's 235/85R16. Up until now they have done the job, as stated above my vehicle has been a work ute towing a ...

I feel special now that everyone was fighting over my virgin status!! Cheers for the feedback guys. I have decided to go with just a 2' lift as I was sooo close to getting over that dune with my absolutly flogged out stock suspension that a 2' lift will pick it up close to 3 - 4 inches anyway. My ...

Hello and some advice please
G'day all, new to the site, was put on to it by a mate of mine who as it turns out is only a lurker. When I asked him who he was he told me that the only access to internet at the moment was through his work and so he cant send any personal stuff on that connection, hence the lurker only status ...
