Mine does this too. Only since I had the turbo fitted though. Mechanic says it's because the timing is moved and the fuel ratio is ramped up to accomidate the turbo. Which means until you get oil through the turbo so it can spin up to balance the air / fuel ratio and some heat gets into the block to ...

Nice work clanky.
I welded up a new engine mount to suit. Reinforced the hell out of it and it works well and hasn't let me down yet. Doing up a plate like yours never really entered my mind. Truly brilliant idea and simple too.
I take my hat off to you. Well done.

Yep. Need a 4.2 box. Did mine 2 years ago. 4.2 motor will sooner or later tear a 2.8 box to pieces. You will also need to rework the engine mounts a little. The drivers side mount will be destroyed every month if you don't rework the mounting point. Passenger side is OK though. Tail shafts will need ...

I blew up my 2.8. Replaced it with a 4.2. Do not waste your time pumping money into a vehicle that only barely rates better than the 3.0L hand grenade.
I learnt the hard way. Catastrophic engine failure 200+kms from home with the car full of family is not something I want to re-live thankyou.

Got a T3/T4 hybrid. Can't complain. It does everything I expected and more. Wasn't the dearest on the market either. Put it together with the 3" zaust and i/cooler, I am a very happy man.

Careful.... Mine started doing that about 6 months before the timing belt idler pulley departed the engine. This was soon followed by the engine doing the fastest impression of a boat anchor you have ever seen. The bearing on the idler pulley failed and started to put drag on the timing belt and so ...

ZD30 was never and still isn't an engine of choice. If it's reliability you want, the 3.0lt Patrol is one to stay well away from.

Mine is a T3/T4 hybrid.
They are more common than you would think. Especially with a 3" exhaust system.

Yep, I agree.
Unless the sand is hard and packed down, low range is the go. You will fry a clutch quick as a flash if you push through soft stuff in high.

Got my turboglyde kit from 4x4 Systems via post to WA. No probs bolting it on. Offered a carton to a local trusted (small) mechanic to advise me when I came up against any problems. Got it tuned professionally. It has been running sweet for over 2 years now. Saved nearly $1000 doing it myself.

You just bought a lemon. 4H requires a high torque engine to keep it up. 2.8's are low torque / high revving engines. The 2.8 is not made for the hard stuff. Shopping trolley and soccer mums driving on the black top was who they were targetting when that was released. You should have got a 4.2 if ...

Same thing happeded to me as 'jorgo'. Total top end destruction. Yeah, it still turned over, but all the valves were bent and I couldn't make any compression. Big coin to fix. Just did a lift on mine. Standard bolts that came out were 1/2" unf thread at 120mm long. This leaves about 10-20mm of exposed thread once tightened up.
Hint: Use new Ny-lock nuts rather than re-using the old ones.
Cheers
