Thought the angle in the steering axis is created by the offset trunion bearing not the knuckle (both sides are the same part no.), so swapping sides will not change this. By swapping sides and upside down the brake caliper sits in the same place and the arm is at the top. The 2 bolt cap is the ...

Flipping the knuckle upside down will not work because the steering axis isn't verticle. The line through the middle of the trunnion bearings runs out at an angle like: //--axle--\\ . If you swap knuckles side to side and upside down, you get the caliper ears on the front of the axle (not a huge ...

I'll ask my local parts guy if he can look those numbers up for me, but I sort of doubt it since they are over sea's items. If you find a set of these knuckles in the yards, I would definently be interested in working something out. I'm also looking for the steering arms from the FJ80/FZJ80 front ...

Also in the link you posted, are those brand new prices? Are the prices in U.S. or Auz. dollars?

The early Prado's and Bundera's have the same front end, so I doubt they will fit the larger 80 series knuckle ball, and 80 trunion bearing is bigger than hilux/Bundera. As suggested in the other thread, try 78/79 series cruiser knuckles. http://www.toyodiy.com/parts/p_G_1993_TOYOTA_LAND+CRUISER ...

The problem is I don't think we got those models here in the U.S. I think we wen't straight from the leaf sprung 60 wagons - the coiled 80 wagons.

You over sea's guys got all the cool stuff.

Do you know if the cv's are the same size as the FJ80/FZJ80 cv's?

I'm determined to find a way of making steering for the 80 work even if it brakes me (and it probably will :D ).

So I'm determined to make hgihsteer for the FJ80/FZJ80 front end a reality. Here in the states the axles are fairly cheap ($400 U.S.), and come with a load of benefits. The problem is they have the 2 bolt main cap on top, and it makes highsteer weak. I'm hoping knuckles with four bolts on top from ...

not to drag this thread too far off topic, but do the bondura outer knuckles fit over the inner knuckles on the front end of an 80?

IE: could you swap the four bolt knuckles from a bondura for the two bolt knuckles from a FZJ80?

Do you know if the outer knuckles of a 70 series, will fit over the inner knuckles of an 80 series?

Did you shear those two little pins off of the face of the hub (between the studs)? I seem to remember reading that the studs weren't really meant to take a shear load. That's why toyota put the two little pins in their hubs. If those snap, people seem to ha ve problems with studs shearing off.

70 front axles vs. 80 front axles

What's the difference? I've seen some 70 front axles that look like FJ80 fronts, but look like they have a four bolt top cap, where the 80's only have a two bolt top cap. Has any one ever tried to swap knuckles from a 90's model 70 to an 80 to try and get high steer? Does anyone have a link to ...

I'm bringing this back from the dead. I know Slee does a steering set-up, but it is mainly used for coiled front, double sheer. I've talked to Jim at Inchworm, and he says the OTT arms are nearly impossible to get. Any one else making a Highsteer/crossover steering set-up for these axles? I didn't ...
