To retain the springs we use exhaust clamps if you can get them in there, they don't break :armsup:

Just to ad on parts cost for disco's, i've never had any problems with expensive parts, always found them to be similar if not cheaper than any other 4wd. parts are abit more expensive for later model d2's but still not excessive imo.

I've had 10 spline hituff axles in my disco for a few months now, i pulled them out the other day and both were slightly twisted at the splines, and both splines are damaged as well. this is only running 33's, rear locker and a tired old 200tdi :? Yeah thats what i thought, tjm copied the design of the mcnamara units but aparently they arn't as strong or something....

We are only new to the Woolgoolga Club (20 minutes North of Coffs Harbour) and have found the main trips they do are playing in the hills behind Coffs and Woopi, but not quite shore where else they head off to, the coffs club does some of the same, but i know they seem to travel to abit further away ...

We must have been lucky than, picked one up on ebay for i think it was $400 with everything including shafts, winch cradle, bullbar to suit pto, trans drive unit, actual winch and cable, all nuts and bolts etc

I would go for a disco 3.9ltr incected, you can pick one up for easily under $4000, getting really cheap these days and the 3.9 is a great motor. He will most likely have a 5speed r380 g'box in his defer, that would be the box to use, shouldn't be any probs mating them togethor, just have to play ...

Yep they stock them in at coffs harbour 4wd (the flexi plastic ones from the uk i think) the only place in NSW that stocks the plastic ones i think, could be wrong.
I'm pretty shore there the same as Stikmans
