do you want an all terrain tyre or mud terrain? I think there are a few 17" ATs, if you want MTs then 16 gives a wider choice. my diesel GV came with 17" alloys but the dealer gave me a set of 16" steel rims (these come std on the base models and the dealer had several spare sets from people ...

I've got an 08 diesel, too early to tell if reliability will be an issue. As to mods, you are limited in what can be modified, both by the cars design and what the suppliers have on offer (TJM don't have anything for new GVs, ARB have springs, but no struts, and a snorkel, nothing else). Body lift ...

re the arb test The Toyota axle failed at 6,929 ft-lbs. The Chinese locker failed at 6,412 ft-lbs. Pretty close. You could say that if your Toyota puts more than 6,000 ft-lbs through the drive train you will be breaking something whatever you put in it. Does anyone know what sort of ft-lbs a Toyota ...

If you want a 'decent' hand held, a radio engineer on another forum recommends the GME TX6100 that goes for $270 from prestige.

I made my own with 18mm ply which is a bit overkill but made it very solid without the need for metal frames. I just went to Bunnings and got two plastic tubs which measured 600x400x220 (the back of a Sierra is just over 800 wide and 600 deep with the back seat folded up)) and then built the box ...

fordy1, some place in Qld (Outdoor Auto) sells door handles and snorkels for 98 - 05 Vitaras via their website. Outdoor Auto also has a Ebay store but only lists headlight covers for current GVs (along with a photo of one with a snorkel), everything else is for 98 - 05 GVs, Jimnys and Sierras ...

Re: Current model Grand Vitara

being a softroader and all Blasphemy! Soft roaders don't have low range, my TD Grand Vitara does. There was a recall regarding the DPF so the problem may have been solved. No problems in the 6,000 km so far. The manual gearbox is pretty ordinary and seeing as diesel is about 20% dearer than ULP, I ...
