Thinking of buying a Cruiser 105 with Chev

I am thinking of buying a Landcruiser 105 with a 6.5 Turbo Chev diesel and LPG injection. Its done 285,000km. 105,000 on the diesel engine. What are these conversions like? How many more km's will I get out of the engine and vehicle? Whats the economy like? Any thoughts welcome.

Got twin tanks on mine. I have 95l usable in the rear and 50l usable drivers side belly. I think the tank is an APA ?B80? I have twin fillers and a switch on the dash to choose which tank. I have a 2 inch body lift to fit the tank in.

Re: upgrading stock patrol headlights

I changed the reflectors on mine and that alone was the biggest upgrade. I then made a custom loom with 4 relays. This has helped a bit too. I am still running 55/60w globes and it does a good job. I may change to 90/130w soon.

Re: Heard of any 3L Patrol utes Blowing ?

I dont think you will find any "grenade" utes. Nissan only had 4.2 TD as an engine option up until then end of the GU5's. When the released the GU6 they dropped the 4.2 TD and brought it out with the ZD30 common rail engine. My understanding is that the ZD30 common rail does not blow up.

Re: TB 42 Cam

Steve, I wouldnt say that I am an expert on this one but I will throw in my comments. I think your impco 225 is too small. I dont think it will have enough flow for a turbo engine. Are you running straight gas? Is your regraphed dizzy still running vacuum advance? I got rid of mine and ran about 20 ...

Re: TB42 cam upgrade questions

I dont think there is anyone that makes a new cam, you can only get a regrind done. I had mine done by Camshaft Services in Adelaide. I had it reground for LPG. It just has more duration and a slight change in timing. It seems to work well. I originally had the cam made for my TB42. Then when I ...

Re: TB42 / TB45 Parts Interchangeability

The TB42 engine has an extra set of oil galleries that feed the head through the front of the engine. If you put a TB45 head on, the galleries arent there and you then get oil leaking out the front of the engine between the block and head. No amount of hylomar could stop it. There is probably a way ...

Re: Engine wont rev - GQ / TB45

It was well worth the conversion. I also dont have any risk of cracking a head as its rare for TB45 to do it. I have done a lot of work to the engine also to prepare it for LPG. I have a build thread on 4WD action forum, have a look there to get the info rather than me post it all here again http ...

Engine wont rev - GQ / TB45

I have a GQ with a TB45 engine fitted. The engine wont rev past 3000rpm on fully throttle. When it hits 3000rpm it stops dead and misfires so it must be electrical. If I drive away slowly with half throttle it will rev to 6000rpm. I have removed the rev limitor from the rotor button and I can find ...

I've had a V6 and I4 RAV4 as a company car. They both go really well on sand. Fuel economy can get really bad in the V6 tho. The I4 has more than enough power.
I had the V6 in some really rough terrain the down hill accent works tops!

No the law is for cars built after 2003 manufacture. The emission laws are much stricter. If the car is uncommon and you are pioneering the conversion then you have to get the car passed for emissions and ADR's. It can cost heaps - so getting LPG vapour done is much easier.

My GQ has a big crack in the diff

I noticed a small puddle appearing under the front diff pumpkin on my GQ. I cleaned up the area and left it. When I came back the next day and had a good look I found I have a hairline crack in the weld about 50mm long. Can I drain the oil, grind back and then mig weld it? http://i325.photobucket ...
