Re: Blow-by but good compression?

I wouldn't immediately discount the gauge. The values may be up because the oil rings may be worn (and potentially causing the blowby). Did you do a wet test? You didn't say originally that these reading were over specification. How far over are they?

One of the best ways to check a diesel engine ...

Re: Blow-by but good compression?

Every engine has a certain amount of blowby, some more than others but they can still be OK. By design the rings cant hold it all in hence the positive crankcase venting system.

How much oil is it using?
Is it coating the inlet tube to the point where it is dripping oil?

If its negligible to ...

Normally you cant, piston manufacturers put the least amount of stress raisers they can on the piston. Im surprised that ACL pistons have the reputation for cracking. I have used them all of my mechanical career with no issues. Mind you, I have not rebuilt every engine either.

Well wasn't that a let down, local Repco didn't have them on stock so they ordered a "kit" in for me. Turns out a "kit" is one lamp with a globe.

I guess in this day and age of every body trying to get their hands deep into your pockets I should have expected no less.

Hey guys, on the underbody plates thing, I bought some Tough Dog ones for it (ARB are just too dear) and all I could get was the Navara ones. Now the third plate wont fit because there are some diagonal braces on the chassis at the rear of the cross member behind the engine.

Does yours have these ...

Yep, you are being unreasonable. Electronic things can fail at any time and it was obviously at the end of its life. How many KM does your car have on it? Obviously more than 100,000 due to the timing belt change.

If they happened to bump it or whatever and caused it to fail, it was because it was ...

Bru, you will have to be careful of the seat if you do that. Once you go below 100mm below the top of the seat then the seat need to be able to withstand the load as well. Quite a few cant if it wasnt designed as such.

In regards to the bracketry, you can make it yourself. You can permanently fit a ...

Re: CCDA external roll cage rules

Its a little disappointing that (not in this thread but others ive read) people whine and complain regarding rollcage materials, that they cost too much etc when they are more than happy to fork out more for a set of alloy beadlocks or coilovers but not the safety aspect of the vehicle.
