Re: 40 series question
This is what a 40 column+80 ragjoint hybrid looks like: http://www.phat42.com/gallery2/d/41414-2/IMG_4130.JPG Depends what steering rods you have now, if you have strengthened rods for the 40 series setup, you might be able to use them if they can take the TRE's of a 75. Part of the upgrade is ...

Depending on what you're adding 60 series steering to (2f, 2h, 3b, etc) you can get the basics here: http://www.40seriescruisers.com/showthread.php?74-60-Series-Steering-Conversion" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; With links to differences for 2h/etc http://www.40seriescruisers.com ...

Re: 40 series question
reason for the 55 column is to use the splined end so it fits a uni for the intermediate shaft, as well as the bearing support in the bottom of the steering column/shaft. alternatives are: - get your original 40 series shaft spilned - convert an 80series ragjoint to work with the 40 column (requires ...

Re: Dual transfer 40 series split case
Only options I know of are: - Toybox from Marlin for the H55F, I know of two units in OZ, Zoltan had one (i think) and another was installed into a family friends vehicle in Melb (again a bit vague so could be wrong) Reduction gears from marks: - They used to do a 66% reduction for the transfer case ...

Re: 40 series suspension
YMMV with bought springs as I've read varying reports from multiple people with them being too short, etc. Dobinsons made custom packs for Twisty's 40 but they are likely to require mount modifications.. everything else I've done personally has been with factory springs from other models.

Re: 40 series suspension
Measure your springs, go to the wreckers and try some from a 60 or 75 you might find that 75 rears are similar and can be a straight swap, you might even find 2" lifted 75 springs..

Re: 40 series suspension
Check out the cruiser bible sticky.. its got a topic with using 60 leaves in a shorty.. you can use 75 leaves up front but they push your diff forward 50mm so need to work with brake lines, drive shafts, etc. Get some nice flex out of them though.. you could go 79 leaves in the rear of a troopy but ...

just get genuine toyota... my Mate Pierre did many many km's of off road (some pretty serious) and did fairly well with this.. However with genuine you will pay substantially more than wath you've posted. Hit Ray up for a quote.. I think he got them for Pierre's black HDJ100..

Re: FZJ105R fuel economy help / maybe a conversion
what sort of l/100kms are you getting? I had a v8 100 and sold it due to the crap economy with 2" lift and 33's.. would always avg 20-22l/100kms normal driving.. I could get it down to 18-19l/100kms if i babied it.. pretty sad really. In my research before buying the v8 i recall reading the v6 4.5lt ...

Just an update on this (for anyone finding this thread researching a turbo for the 3b and thinking this setup has issues..). not sure if relevant but you dont say what state you are in? I think i recall seeing some SOA 40's approved in tas,and at one time nsw... definately not allowed in qld.. but if you are serious best bet is to find an approved person in your state and ask them direct.

I have a mate with an early 80's ford bronco and it struggles on some tracks due to width. He wouldn't be able to follow normal wheel tracks and depending on where he was following my 40 and a mates jeep, he'd have to take some odd lines..

The rego on the 40 isn't much being a 4 banger and with not much driving its servicing costs arent much either.. its the fuel economy of the uzj thats killing us at 20l/100kms and mostly city driving, as nice a vehicle as it is we just can't afford to keep it.. I dont expect to have kids in the car ...

'modular' roll cage for a 40
Hey guys, just thinking out loud... We're trying to downsize the 100series and in doing that, it only leaves us the 40 as a 'camping' vehicle (we'd have to get a trailer to bring all our crap)... anyway.. we've got 2 kids and currently the 40 is mod plated as a 2 seater + roll bar... If I was to set ...

Bit of an update.. the 40 is back up and running now.. I checked out the diaphragm governor on the injector pump and discovered it wasnt connected to the rail and a bracket+8mm nut and R clip were missing. I assume what had happened was this disconnected while driving and the rod slid to full fuel ...

Re: starting an engine after its run on oil - updated with p
I still think it's your intake plumbing. Quick check is flush all old oil from inlet tubing, remove air box and run with just a Pod filter straight on the turbo inlet. Your inlet tubing is very long, combined with a possibly blocked air filter and you will definitely suck oil past the seals ...
