Chev bolt pattern is further spaced than the Holden one. It is hard to tell just by looking at it.

253 or 308.

All 253's are Holden, most 308 manuals are Holden pattern while a good majority of Autos are Chev pattern except for later versions in bommadores where the turbo was not an option.

I just spotted this on Ebay which says it is a 98 Model ?? which Hilux 98 used the front diff on passenger side ?
The model that went from 98-05. 1998 was the changeover year from one model to the next, so the earlier ones still had the diff on the RHS, but the later ones had it LHS.

Hilux Transfercase question

Hi All,
Being a Nissan person and having nothing to do with Toyotas at all I have a question.

I am looking for a Toyota 5 speed and transfer to bolt into 4x4 with the front diff on the LH side. Given that the toyota 5 speed boxes can be bolted up to just about any engine with changable bellhousings ...

I actually modified the radiator support panel to fit the Holden radiator, notice the top brackets for the GQ radiator are gone

The Holden radiator is now a bolt in fit. Heaps cheaper to replace as well.

Had this conversion in since 1998 , Kevin Wiliams did the engineers in early 99

Use the 300A which is the top section and buy an adapter that connects it to the Nissan GQ Carby.

The bottom pic is a ring type mixer used with the Euro type systems. No good to you if you are gonna run impco setup.

No the 300A bolts to an alloy adapter that sits on top of the carby and screws to the centre stud of the carby. The 300A then uses 3 screws to attach to the adapter

Any gas place should be able to get you the adapter for the 300A

They are always connected with a short drive shaft and the Hydraulic pump is bolts to a very hefty bracket attached to the chassis rail.

That is exactly what I was thinking of doing. I think there is room in front of the box without probs to the headers. How big of a pump does it take for a 12k ...

Ian,

Looking in my Y160 manual, it looks like the Fact Y60 (GQ) PTO winch is very similar to the MQ type that your looking for. There seems to be a lot of Safari's with PTO winches in New Zealand--might be worth having a look there.

I think people get scared off by the cost of Hydraulics--eg ...
