A small truck is the go, but look into the costs, I have used a few options and this is what I have found; 1. - HDJ79 ute with canopy, tools, genset, compresor, camping gear, piss and some spares & tandem trailer with comp car. Rego for both $850 - $900, anyone can drive = some beer. (I am not game ...

Chip
I am running a Dtronic in my 79 comp ute. I used to swap into my tow ute but the plugs don't like being plugged in and out and caused a few low power problems. Overall happy with the chip untill something better comes along.

105 axle into 79
1. The housing and axles are wider, you can use the 79 hubs and outers. If you fit a 105 axle housing you will need to move it 25 to 30mm to the drivers side if you want to keep it central. i think this will limit your up travel as the bump stop is pretty close to the pumpkin already. 2. The 79 and ...

I looked at the same problem in my HDJ79, after the first c&p the toyota centre went to scrap. I looked at fitting a whole GU housing but the centre in a 79 is more centred and the GU housing would have hit the chassis on bump. Never mind the 6 stud and 5 stud rears. With some advice from 80UTE, I ...

I agree with mickbenny, I have been down that path (1HZ intercooled turbo) was only running 9psi post cooler and egt's under 500 and cracked pistons @ 150000kms after fitted (engine 45000kms when turboed) I have 2 1HD-FTE utes and my brother has a 12HT and a 1HDT. Any one of these motors IMO is a ...

I have several vehicles that work in mine sites in QLD. I have only ever fitted electronic rust prevention to one of them, and the rest are Endrusted. I can't remember the name of the system but it was fitted by a dealer as part of a 'protection pack'. I have since removed the electronic (and the ...

I heard that there were threaded nuts already welded under the floor pan to suit the bucket seats (79 RV's), you just needed to locate them and carefully drill the floor pan. I am also in the process of fitting buckets to a 79 but haven't got that far yet. I have the fuel tank removed from mine and ...

I have fitted a DTS kit to a HZJ79 a few years back. I cannot comment on the denco kits, but I found the DTS kit good. BUT I cound not get boost under 10psi untill I fitted one of their top mount air-air intercoolers. This brought post cooler to 8-9 psi and dropper egt's below 500 pushing hard. Also ...

I am also looking at the same mod on a HDJ79, Try Highway Diesel in Brisbane, I spoke to Craig about 6 months ago and he way keen for a 1HD-FTE to play with, but mine is on blocks. I went to him because I felt the biggest limiting factor was the EFI. He is confident that the pump is far superior to ...

I have also found the same problems on a HDJ79. The long wheelbase and narrow track make it worse. I am currently grafting a GU front centre and stretching the front axle 150mm. This should put me on par with an 80 series????? As for the length (short term) I am toying with 75 series rear springs as ...
