Re: 80 series gurus answer my noob questions please.

I ran 35' tyres on my 80 series with a 3 inch spring lift. I had caster bushes fitted to keep it tracking OK. I don't think you can fit sway bar disconnects to an 80 series.

Not much of an offroader but this is my new ride. It's the hotrod 4.6IS version. It'll keep me happy for a little while. https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-A_cSGY9xry4/Ube44BIpg6I/AAAAAAAABaw/x7Rx4GtkVDo/s912/20130612_081800.jpg https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-YVg9glgNeeY/Ube45OrpqlI/AAAAAAAABbA ...

I've got a Lincoln SP-170T which is a great welder. It's portable so you can take it places without too many dramas. It's got a reasonable amount of grunt if needed and will also do thin stuff. New they are $1200 - $1300.

I've got a Richmond Lock-Right in the rear of my 80 series. I reckon it's great. Hardly ever notice it's there when on the bitumen but it certainly craps all over the shagged out LSD I used to have. The extra traction means you can drive the same tracks easier or have a go at some harder stuff.

Get a 6 sided socket. They grip the sides and not the corners and are much better for things like sump plugs.

Depends on how much you're going to use it and under what conditions. Warn don't have the reputation they have for nothing. If you're after a cheaper option then I reckon either Premier or Ironman.

The good ones are good (Kimberley, Track etc) but be careful of the ones that advertised themselves as offroad trailers when they are nothing more than a standard trailer with a set of sunraysia wheels.

I'd look at a dual fuel Troopy. That way you can use LPG where it's available and petrol when it's not. A bullbar is handy to avoid having Skippy sitting on your lap. A 2 inch lift and good All Terrain tyres would also be handy.

I've got 95 litres of petrol and 90 litres of LPG which will get me around 700km's. I would think you might struggle with outback touring being on straight gas as LPG isn't available in that many outback servos. You'd need to do some serious planning and make a few phone calls to confirm supply ...

Is gasless MIG as good as ARC?

I've had a little CIG ARC welder for a while but not long ago I managed to pick up a Lincoln Electric SP170t MIG. I've got a gas bottle so most of my welding will be with gas but if I need to weld outside I can swap the roll and weld gasless. I don't have much experience with gasless MIG welding. Is ...
