Yellow fuel?
After some troubles with my 88 sierra, we got it running after playing around with the cam gear, it ran fine for a few days then it had trouble in 1st and 2nd with jerking around (felt like a combination of fuel troubles and a slipping clutch)
So I took the fuel filter off, its dirty, as expected ...
