Re: So I bought a Haflinger

Let me know what you find - a lot of the ATV tyres are too wide for the rims or too much $ (and not sure they would handle the weight). My best option so far is small bobcat tyres - Bearcat in Sydney was the best price by far when I was looking.

Cheers

Re: So I bought a Haflinger

Hi Gary,

If you get a set of 13" Alfa / fiat rims, then there is an ebay seller usually advertising a set of 4 retread 175 70R13 mud tyres - looks like it might be the old Toyo mud and snow pattern????

I have never found anything road legal mud type in 12" in Australia. On the Haflinger forum you ...

Re: Wrangler towing

A couple of ACT registered TJs have increased towing limits. Required an engineers certificate and then inspection by the local RTA. I believe the engineer wanted an extra or re-enforced mounting point. These TJs were done to tow camper trailers so not sure how much increase they were after but they ...

Yeah the exhaust should come down the passenger side, warp forward around the sump - not under, and the back down the drivers side next to the gearbox. There are some aftermarket extractors which go under the sump rather than around it. Is that what you mean? They are sort not to buy!

1- where do recovery points on a heep get attached?
it got some crappy loop ontop off the chassis and no other holes to mount to.

Stock bumpers? On the front from memory you should see two bolts through the bumper into the chassis rails - they are probably torx heads. You can put standard recovery ...

There were two other imported ones on ebay recently...I know one was listed at $7k (under reserve) but no bids. I don't know if the other sold. They both were LHD imports - looked straight out of army service somewhere. Very ...

The TJs are essentially the same from 97 through to 2007.

The engine had a slightly different head and coil pack from 2000 on - otherwise it pretty much the same 4.0 straight 6 that has been around for ever.

The gearbox is the main change...you can google for the changes. Some people say the AX15 ...

I used him 5 years ago for my jeep. Easy to deal with. Most of the engineered jeeps in the ACT Jeep club have used him including up rating towbar limits for towing campers etc. I guess all of our jeeps are bolt on mods (suspension, wheels etc) not custom fab.

In the ACT, he follows NCOP as you ...

Never heard that. I have a 2000 TJ. Owners manual says

10W-30 (preferred) for -18deg C to 38 deg plus
5W-30 for temps below -29dec to max 38 deg

Obviously Canberra doesn't get THAT cold ;) I've always used 10W-30

I ran 33x10.5 BFG ATs for years on my TJ and only just recently put 33x12.5 MTRs on.

One point which may or may not matter to you is the weight.

On my old bathroom scales (which are probably out), a 33x10.5 BFG AT on an American Racing 15x7 alloy rim weighed about 26kgs from memory.
