I did an oil change + filters on my TD42 a couple of weeks ago and put about 11-12L in to get it up to the mark.

In one the Outback Challenge videos a bloke was straightening one out with a sledgehammer on a big rock. He did an awesome job and it looked pretty straight once he'd finished. They appeared to be bloody tough so I'd have a go at straigtening it first. I did the same to my Patrol - bent the ...

lift and rear stabiliser

I'm gonna fit a 3" lift to my GQ wagon soon and am wondering what to people do with their rear stabilser - extend it or rip it out? I have the model with the factory disconnect.

I have done that - it definately is the injector pump control motor, as the car works fine with it disconnected and when it is connected I can see the motor moving while the car is running. Is there a relay or something that controls it or is all the electrics for it contained within the motor?

I have a problem with this motor as well on my SD33T. The motor randomly turns off, on, off, on irregularly and it seems to get worse after some revving. From reading the other posts on this subject I pulled the motor apart to clean it - but it was perfectly clean inside and no visible damage to ...

SD33T rebuild cost

How much would it roughly cost to rebuild an SD33T engine?
Is it worth doing the turbo at the same time and roughly how much would that be?

Engine has done just under 320K, injectors have been overhauled.

probably water pump seal - and when that leaks it usually indicates pump bearings are on the way out.

Fixed the problem - there is a small ball valve on the fuel return that was stuck open - must have been flooding the enging and killing it when decellerating.

Yesterday - unleaded 97.9 - diesel 107.9.
Today - unleaded 97.9 - diesel 112.9.
It can't have been cause of oil prices cause unleaded should have risen too - and diesel is less refined than unleaded - go figure.

Just took it for another test run. It runs OK during normal driving around town, but after high revs as I described above it quickly loses oil pressure down to about .5 Kg/cm2 (normal runs at 3 which is half way on the guage). During the high revs it sometimes goes up to about 4 and to keep engine ...

SD33T engine problems

After operating at high rpms (like highway driving or just reving hard) my SD33T will cut out while decellerating or when it comes to idle. I think I also have an electrical problem with the Turbo Timer / Glow Plug relay, it is making clicking noises and seems to run directly off the battery (should ...

I do it in my MK SD33T no probs - less RPM's = better fuel economy which is something you got to want with fuel prices atm.

I have an MK SWB and 4x4ing it gets quite hot - just under the redline. Changed the water / coolant and that helped a lot but it still gets too hot working hard at low speeds.

How many ppl take out the Patrol factory rear lsd and put a locker in instead? What extra steps are needed to put ...

Re: patrol model

Did you find it in Townsville? I'm after a MK LWB diesel if you know of any, but I think I'd be hard pressed to find a decent one, or a sensibly priced one up here. Same goes for ANY 4wd in TSV actually. Have a look in the trips and tracks section if you're looking to come wheeling with some locals ...

They are a load of shit - my Dad put 2 of them in his 60 series cruiser wagon and it drove worse, sucked more fuel and made the car completely gutless. I had the same experience with 60 series, they make a grinding sound as they go in, or you have to slowly move forward so the lever engages.

Last I checked the dizzy cap was fine. It is ok to start, but idles a bit rough. Cyclinder 4 has lower compression than the others. When I first got it, it would stall very easily on take off, so adjusted timing a bit to make it better. But is still seems to not like take off and feels sluggish ...

Extremely bad fuel economy

My Bundera with a 22R engine (done about 200K) is getting extremely bad fuel economy, which is gradually getting worse. At the moment it is up to 27.5L per 100 Klm's. I know the 22R's aren't the best engine for fuel economy, but it definatly shouldn't be this bad. I don't know a great deal about ...
