This is a common problem with chev V8 diesels, caused by either cheap glowplugs or usually the timer/operator has glowed them too long and they have swelled/burnt out.
There is a special tool which pulls them out every time, costs about $70 on ebay. See auction 140384688274 on ebay.com

Make sure that whatever you buy is equivalent to the current model top of the line Drill Doctor 750X as this is the only model that allows split point and variable angle sharpening for different materials.

Another vote for a Drill Doctor, does them perfectly every time from a couple of mm up to 3/4" /19mm. Can do normal, split point, masonry and left hand.
I bought the 750x from the US for about $AU170 and a 110v to 240v 300watt transformer from a bloke in Wagga for $AU32 and it works really well. I ...

I've tried a few well known brands over the years on both cars and 4wd's and found that the Hella H4 reflectors give the best beam. You can fit them with Halogen globes up to 90/140's or even put a set of HID's in them. I've recently fitted the HId's to mine and the difference in light output is ...

I've fitted HID hi/lo in H4 Hella inserts, seem to work well with a good sharp cutoff. No one flashes me so obviously no problem to oncoming vehicles.
When fitting check that the position of the arc is the same as the halogen globe, if so you should have no problems.
As mentioned stick to the better ...

55's came with 5 1/2 inch split rims and 7.50 x 16 tyres, Roadtrak Majors to be precise.
The split rims stayed the same width right through till the 78/79 and 100 series went to 5 stud when they went out to 6" width.

They are noisy especially when cold, I've got two here in humvee's and they are both the same. The humvee's run stainless headers standard which doesn't help as cast manifolds seem to help muffle the noise a bit.
all the other ones that I've heard are noisy too.

there is actually about 4 inches (100mm) difference between the front footwells as the engine is kicked/angled towards the RHS to increse the LHS footwell space for the driver. It also allows the front driveshaft to run up beside the sump and trans to the front diff which is offset to the left about ...

It will depend on your engine, later models won't like it, earlier low tech engines will probably tolerate it.
My humvee is ex-USAF so I'd reckon it has spent most of its life running on jetfuel.

They all (approx 20 odd intact ones anyway) came into the country legitimately, as has been stated they are supposed to be destroyed when purchased for scrap value BEFORE they leave the US bases. Somehow about a 100 odd 'escaped' intact from the USAF in Saudi Arabia. Most were spirited away ( a lot ...

Far worse I'd imagine, when I got the Humvee it had them all round, half worn etc etc. At 80k you couldn't hear the engine or anything else and speech was impossible. It was also nigh on impossible to stay in a lane on suburban multi lane roads. Fortunately on the only trip I ever did with them to ...
