Hilux engine/diesel conversion
I've recently gotten a Hilux and tbh the standard 3Y 2L petrol motor is nothing to sing and dance about.. It's a little bit gutless. I pretty much want to put a diesel engine in it for several reasons. - efficiency, torque and waterproofness. Far as I gather it's alot easier to run a diesel ...

Does anyone know roughly what kind of money I'd be looking at? Mainly just the cost of parts. I'd do most of the work myself. Main reason I want to do it is because the front leafs are really rough on road as well as off road. The car will be used for long range touring/offroad fun. I have another ...

Coil conversion
How difficult/expensive would it be to convert an '84 lux to coil suspension on the front or front and back??
Is it the kind of thing that would be more expensive than a new truck?

Idea for a long range fuel tank
Just throwing this out there - I've been looking what it costs to have a long range/aux fuel tank installed in a GQ, I've spoken to a few shops and the idea I get is the same. The aux tank does not interface with the main tank, it has its own fuel line that you can switch from in the cabin. Like so ...

Roof mounted driving/spot lights
The other night, me an a few mates got bogged. Turns out the puddle we were in was deeper than it looked :S. We were diffed with basically the head lights half submerged (one head light was fked), and our fricken hand winch broke, and it started going dark. Mainly for this situation, but others as ...

Rediculously high KM's on a diesel motor
As discussed in another topic recently, I'm in the market for a new vehicle and it's gonna be diesel. Now having only owned petrol powered suzukis (and non-fourby's), I'm a total diesel newb. I've heard from some people that diesel motors run forever, and from others that I lots lower KMs is worth ...

what economy do the 2.8s give? i really dont think they would be much better than 11.5L/100 which is easy from a TD42, even on 35s 12L/100km is do able. i know the 4.2 is all i would be looking at exactly. doesn't mater what engine it has (to a degree) it's still trying to push that same GQ wagon ...

Yeah TBH, I would be driving to work in it every day, Hurstville to North Sydney, and that would be it's primary use. I mainly want a bigger range vehicle so I can tour, cape york, outback etc, with a BUNCH of people (not just a +1). Things the soft top Sierra simply cannot do.. Basically what I'm ...

GQ: 2.8TD or 4.2D
Hey Guys, noob question here  I'm basically in the market for a new fourby, and I'm pretty sure it's gonna be a GQ. I've never owned a diesel before, or a Nissan for that matter. My main goal is efficiency and range, but I don't want gutless either. With that goal in mind, would the 2.8L Turbo ...
