I have the problem of the hose blowing off on my Blue Tongue III compressor. It gets so hot the hose slides off. I currently have a strong hose clamp, but I intend to setup a braided piece of hose to disipate the heat.....

Are there any mods at all to be performed to an AC compressor before it can be used to pump air? ie, I know they run a wet fluid in the AC circuit to lubricate the system - so does this mean the AC comp will die if it is not modded for free air work?

If it works, stopping is no biggy I feel. Most hard sections would be traversed in the time the system runs for without needing to stop. 5 seconds to take a breath sounds ok too. I will be interested to get hold of a manual on these to REALLY see how the system works. It may not be brake fade but ...

I have done this. Too easy. I installed a second switch beside the factory up down switch. All you need to do is intercept the radios Aerial Up / down output which is either 12v or ground - I think 12v. (that is not important however). All you do is route that wire through the switch. when you have ...

An engines ignition timing is set based on the burn rate of the fuel. higher octane means slower burn, less volotile, thus needs more ignition lead time(advance) to burn it. engines that have higher compression, turbos, etc need higher octane as the standard fuel will self combust causing pinging ...

Yeah, and then the manifolds crack, fall apart, the hoses rub on something and get holes in them. The wastegate line falls off and the first you know about it is when the wife tells you "Hon, I dragged off a Ferrari today, you'd be proud of me, however, I'm not sure if this is a problem, but there ...

If there is one thing about my race car that I have learnt, it's not to stuff with my or my wifes daily driver. There is nothing more annoying than having to fix things on the daily driver, or having problems with it when you really don't want to be working on it.

Well before my car made a fatal retirement a few months ago, I WAS driving a Nissan 180SX which has the SR20DET engine, 4 cyl, 2.0L turbo. Mazda RX-7 turbo attached. The turbo however has since had a garrett to4b 3.0" inlet compressor and latest spec wheel fitted, as well as the exhuaust housing has ...

The NL 3.5L is a torquey motor. Comparing maximum figures between the two engines is a pointless exercise. This is typical manufacturer rubbish they use to sell a car. It matters not what the maximum power and torque values are (as long as they are reasonable). What matters more is the SPREAD of the ...

There are two 3.5L v6's. The DOHC edition came out first around 96, then around 98-99 the 3.5L SOHC edition came out. The DOHC engine is the same design that was in the 3000gt. The main differences being that the dohc engine was more of a revver than the SOHC engine. This meaning the torque is found ...

I have been playing with thermo fans on my Nissan race car. I do a lot of motorkana stuff which is slow speed, high power which needs lots of fan action. The electric thermos cannot move anywhere near enough air compared to engine driven thermos. 1200cfm is about the best of an electric fan, whereas ...

I did the 2 or more lift last weekend. I cut the bumpstops for the droop (top ones) but I am still concerned that with the lift there is not enough droop. I jacked the car up side to side and the max droop (on the front) from the height I have is around 50mm, 2" - maybe a smidge more.... The sway ...
