I have the problem of the hose blowing off on my Blue Tongue III compressor. It gets so hot the hose slides off. I currently have a strong hose clamp, but I intend to setup a braided piece of hose to disipate the heat.....

Are there any mods at all to be performed to an AC compressor before it can be used to pump air? ie, I know they run a wet fluid in the AC circuit to lubricate the system - so does this mean the AC comp will die if it is not modded for free air work?

AC comps are a dime a dozen, so if nothing has ...

If it works, stopping is no biggy I feel. Most hard sections would be traversed in the time the system runs for without needing to stop. 5 seconds to take a breath sounds ok too. I will be interested to get hold of a manual on these to REALLY see how the system works. It may not be brake fade but ...

I have done this. Too easy. I installed a second switch beside the factory up down switch. All you need to do is intercept the radios Aerial Up / down output which is either 12v or ground - I think 12v. (that is not important however). All you do is route that wire through the switch. when you have ...

I am glad to hear you stuck with the engine driven fan. Time and time again I have to remind people that the only reason electric fans were ever produced were for front drive cars and noise. No electric fan, suitable for a car, has even had the air movement of a clutch type.

Thanks for the info ...

So what's the total cost?

The NL 3.5L is a torquey motor. Comparing maximum figures between the two engines is a pointless exercise. This is typical manufacturer rubbish they use to sell a car. Ho hum. One compressor. There are two evaporators(the bit that makes the cold (one in the front, one in the rear). Only one condenser (the bit in front of the rad.

You'll see when looking at the pipes that go to/from the cabin there is a branch off that leads to the rear unit.

Simple.

The main differences being that the dohc engine was more of a revver than the SOHC engine. This meaning the torque is found ...

Redrocket, yes, I would hope so as it should work as much with weight coming off, as it does with it coming on.

Yes, Doug is right. You can disassemble the torsion bar setup, spin the adjuster further around, reinstall. That will get you more height, but then you'll just be sitting on the bumpstop.

It is a load biased proportioning valve. Designed to apply more brake pressure to the rear as you apply more weight.
Note that is has a bleed screw on it, which can help to get the last bit of air out of the system when bleeding....

50,000kms is crap. If they do not experience Leaded fuel they will work happily to over 100,000kms. After this their response tends to slow and fuel economy will suffer.

I would say 100,000km -150,000km is more feasible. They obviously work beyond this but fuel economy won't be best.
