Cool, never realised that, I've seen a few pics of hydraulic low mounts they built but never a high mount.uninformed wrote:hyd hi mounts were available new from warn at one point

Re: Warn 8274 High Mount Converted to Hydraulic
Running an hydraulic motor through a flexible coupling looks pretty odd to me.....have you ever tried the winch already? how does it work with mod?
Never tried it Mate, of the 10 or so high mounts I've bought secondhand over the years to suit parts/repair this one was in the best condition inside ...

I think very short swaybar links is the main reason for disconnects not being used.
Had to dig deep into my Photobucket library to find these. I had a go at extended links with a disconnect for the 80 I used to own. Wow, my welding and machining skills have thankfully improved since those days ...

I'm sure it could be done.
I pick up the odd Warn winch from an almost permanent wanted ad I have on Gumtree.
Here's a link to a thread I started about a Warn highmount I bought for parts which had been converted to hydraulic, never did try the hydraulics though. It's now got a fair few mods and ...

Re: starting an engine after its run on oil
The first thing that comes to mind for me with the turbo oil seal is oil supply, I haven't run a Garrett myself but I believe they usually require a fairly small restrictor in the oil line to regulate flow otherwise they get too much oil flow.

I just wanted to shorten the whole intake from snorkle to turbo.

Amazon.com is by far the cheapest place I've found, copied the rest of this post across from one of my previous posts on another forum. Just do a search the for the Warn part No. you need. Unfortunately it does mean a wait on parts from the US though. Mal Leslie would be worth a call too.

Few more details on the last page of my build thread.
I hit it with the oxy first, was still having the same trouble as you. I'd been told that the case hardening was only about 0.5mm thick so I machined about that much out across the 10mm width I wanted to drill. I used a tungsten carbide insert ...

Quick update on this thread.

sorry for the hijack but who do we all recommend for the supply of a new 6hp XP motor?
Hijack away! New motor will be on my shopping list before too long, seem to go for $460 on EBay, advertised for $400+ freight on Patrol 4x4 by Dave Matcalfe.

That was my only worry with using the M12 bolt didn't want to be removing more material than necessary, only planning on boring in 25mmdogbreath_48 wrote:I used m10 from memory. Can't see a problem with m12 so long as you don't go boring any more than you need to (30mm would be more than enough)

Warn high mount brake shaft mod - bolt size?
Hey Guys
I've got a couple of brake shafts from Warn high mounts to drill/tap and machine up end caps for. Just wondering what size bolts others have used for this mod. Have some plated high tensile bolts here in 12mm unless anyone suggests that size isn't appropriate.

How much you want for the motor and conversion?
I run PTO now, and with this perhaps i could just run a variable displacement pump off the PTO box to uncuouple the winch drive speed from the wheel drive speed.

bottom right corner of the compliance plate where it lists trans/axle codes.
HG46 is a 4.6 ratio and is what I'd expect the 2.8 to have.
The two numbers in the axle code refer to the diff ratio.
