Mike_1324, I had a look in the hose that goes from the brake booster to the intake manifold and it was clean as a whistle, no evidence of any oil/fluid.

WHITE SMOKE FROM THE EXHAUST WHEN THE ENGINE IS COLD???
What causes white smoke from the exhaust when the engine is cold? The smoke smells like petrol, the spark plugs were fouled and not firing very well so I replaced all the plugs, this doesn't seem to have fixed it though. The coolant level doesn't look like it's dropped and the oil and water do not ...

Next question: I have a 1991 16valve escudo that I just fixed the alternator brushes on, There is now a dash light on, I'm sure the light wasn't on previously, the light looks like a little box with tubes coming off the sides and 4 wavy lines going upwards, I've included a picture.

Can anyone tell me if the alternator from a 2.5 litre suzuki will fit a 1.6 litre engine? This is the reason I ask, I have a 1.6 escudo with dud alternator and saw this for sale:

Yep, at that revs the engine is not efficently making power, so will require more right foot to maintain speed. 3000rpm for 100, maybe more, will make a much happier drive.
