You can try all the tricks under the sun to improve fuel economy but the bottom line is that you will have to live with 18-21 litres per 100 if you are lucky... And very careful in the water crossings on the way to Cape York because i took every precaution but didnt consider that a piece of crap ...

I have a similar setup and i run the fridge 24-7...... My daily driving to work and back keeps it going... The car sat for 4 days three weeks ago in a carport in 35degree heat each day and the fridge was still on 1.5degrees....

I would go a 4" sus lift... Approx $1400 for springs and shocks.... Thats not breaking the bank... Oh, and at least a 3degree caster bush set...
