In Tasmania you must carry a spare tyre and it also must have the same minimum tread depth requirement as per the road regulations. I have seen people defected for unroadworthy spare tyres. (thats what can happen if you be a pr$ck to the transport inspectors)

That is a very interesting point. If your vehicle has a fold down/removable windscreen, is it legal to drive around with it down or removed? I do remember from some time ago that if you where building a hot rod (which of course had to be engineered) the only way around not having a heater fitted, th...

You could not pic up a 4x4 mag in the early 90's without it having an ad for these. Will try to dig out an old advert.

That is a very nice rig you have there. Go the cromo axle stuff. Having the lux diffs under my vehicle I think you will be much happier with the zook axles in the long run. Unless your plans are for big engine etc. Please fix your steering and also please tell of your wheel supplier

I have a 12/1988 BJ73 That after my last trip out started to leak oil from the front output seal on the transfer, no biggie just replace the seal. But when i jumped under to have ...

I think you are right with your interpritation of what is happening. I used to run 31" BFG mudders on my lwb and it seemed to bump steer very badly and would skate around on wet roads, but then I changed to mungrels and the bump steer went away and you could just power it (ok plant the foot thr...

That is basically what I ended up with on the front shaft, and as 11_evl sig. says "BUILT not bought" :finger:
BTW I get much more satisfaction out of making anything for myself rather than paying someone else to do what I can do.

Made my own adaptor similar to what is on the rear. Had to machine it from scratch. Made the spigot that pokes out to suit the zuk flange, then made the female spigot hole to match the hilux shaft. Rather than bolting the whole lot together, I taped the threads into the adaptor. It is about 12mm thi...

My advice on the rear one, is to get the flange that goes between the two half's of a hilux rear shaft. This flange has the correct bolt patern for the hilux carden shaft. Now take it to someone with a lathe and have them machine down the spigot that pokes out so that it fits firmly into the output ...
