Stop mucking around with the metallurgy of the shaft and you will reduce the chance of wrecking it. Instead of softening it to drill and tap the end and then re-hardening it just grab a stainless M6 or M8 socket head countersink screw and TIG weld it directly to the end of the shaft. 4. vehicles will need roll cage/ helmet/ window nets etc as per winch challenge / outback rules. Safety is a very high priority.

Range Rover Stop Tail
Can anyone explain why the drivers side only stop tail on my RR has a very short life expectancy? It usually only lasts a few days and when it blows it turns black and grey. Totally FUBAR.
