I made up a steel SHS subframe that bolted to the factory seat mounts in mine. The engineer said that if you wanted to weld plates in they had to be 100x100 (from memory so don't take it as gospel). Hey all,

I'm chasing information about putting a 2 person seat in the rear of my Fj40.

i need info about what kind of seat i can use, seat belt mounting etc.

You can try heli-coil which may be difficult if its a shallow blind hole but you could MIG weld the hole (less heat spread dont use arc) and re-drill and tap but you must measure the depth of the hole 1st and put masking tape around the drill bit at the required length so you dont go too far ...

i ran the battery cables along the chassis rail and also that's where the fuel sender wires are so maybe the joiner has come apart there possibly?
will check that first then check what gauge does when take the fuse out.

how thick is that roll bar,i reckon vacume cleaner tubes look thicker,are u sure its dot approved for seat belt mounting,i wouldnt go on what someones said,40 looks good though,good luck on finishing the beast off ha ha i like that one.. cheers for the compliment. instead of stuffing around with the seatbelt on the rollbar way. can you fit an ADR approved harness eg; 4 point.......???

to the floor behind front seats.
