Re: Discos

i've had a 94 D1 V8 for nearly two years now. it's great car and i don't plan on getting rid of it any time soon. for touring i would like to have a diesel D2, but for weekend trips, you get a lot of bang for buck with a D1. i'm in the process of fitting 33s, with just 2" lift and much guard cutting ...

Re: looking for a Auto Electrical

thanks for the tip on the light bulb holders. the prongs were bent and not making contact with the bulb. i fixed that and after one trip the old bulb blew. haha. popped a new one in and it's been good ever since. now i can merge lanes safely without annoying other people.

i have 3" steel spacers in the buggy but they're a PITA
you cant check if they're still done up correctly without taking the wheel off

i'd spend the money on the right rim set up
one less thing to go wrong

yeah it's done a few with me. not sure how many sam went through. cal snapped a few of his as well. they're too short. i had to upgrade the hub studs to bigger cap screws on the short side (front and rear) but the long side is still stock. there's just no give in such a short axle.

i think you're right sam. the end of the stub is damaged - consistent with bottoming out inside the bell. can't see cos it's full of grease still. this axle has no circlip grooves. when i make a new one, i should run circlips... or a tack weld. :D gonna take all these ideas to the axle maker and ...

pretty sure this is an en26 axle - around 338 mm diametre shown next to a standard AA battery i think the wear marks are from the mashed up oil seal after the initial break can't really go bigger - and already using $$$ longfields (which are holding up) so not gonna go custom cvs as well it breaks ...

cool my short list was mcnamara and dobbin. but i will speak to matt as well. from my experience heat treatment is very hit and miss. i have broken dobbin's axles, and just recently an axle from another supposedly shit hot axle maker.

1. the die and pipe should be tight. ensure you're using the right size pipe for the die.
2. keep the rollers far apart if you're not doing a tight bend
3. cut yourself some roller packers with bigger tube
4. line the seam of the pipe on the side of the bend when bending
